I hate nuclear weapons. All of them.
I wish that every last one of them could be completely eradicated from the earth.
But what do you think is going to become of all of them?
There are so many of them that the whole world could be brought to complete desolation in just a short time.
How do you think it's all going to go down?
Will the human race die out slowly, or will we at some point turn to a full blown nuclear war?
Although I'm often optimistic, I find it hard to believe that the world is going to survive much longer.

While I agree that the weapons are not great for the Earth, they are a necessity at times. Who knows how things could turn out if we don't have some for times of need.
It's the best to be the one with the bigger stick, don't you think? I'm not a violent person, but I do believe that war sometimes has to be the answer. Not the best answer, but the needed one.

Mmmhmm. You do have a strong point each. Nuclear weapons themselves should be a last resort, but there are indeed too many. Carrying a bigger stick is one thing, but so many countries have these mass genocide weapons at the tip of their fingers and in quantities. While I wish there was no need for war, it'll continue endlessly in some form or another. Sometimes, we just need insurance.

Sad thing is, as long as there are differences of opinion, there shall be war. I agree that they need to be a last resort, as they are awful, destructive things. But I do hope I'm on the side with underground shelters if it does come to that.

Mmmhmm. That is the fact of life, as much as we try to change it. However, I do side with your opinion on the underground shelters, Oneechan. They are a much needed attribute when one is dealing with radiation in the volume of these bombs.

I think they shouldn't be used at all. I mean, what does blowing everything up solve? You all know what happened to Hiroshima. What do you think all those Japanese victims felt as the Americans partied for having won? Nuclear weapons are horrible, and shouldn't even be used as last resort weapons. You can hurt just as much with your words than with your weapons, I think.
I'd understand guns, but nuclear bombs... They're just for show. The authorities should never even make such monstrosities. What do they get out of destroying innocent peoples' lives?

Sabaku, I do agree that what happened at Hiroshima was awful I do wish we didn't need to do it at the time, but we did. Think of how much longer that war would've gone on? It would've gone on until the last able-bodied Japanese person died, or until we Americans were forced to surrender. Many more lives would've been lost in the war than what was lost at Hiroshima, but the Japanese refused to surrender. It was, at the time, the lesser of two evils. I doubt our President was happy about making that choice at the time.
Sometimes, I fear, we forget how bad things would've been, had that choice not been made.

Well we can't turn back time, but I hope that in the future, mankind will use the smarts nature has given them and realize that they might have won the war, but violence will bring more violence. As long as these monstrosities are around, we will never have peace.
Humans should make an effort. It's already sad that they slaughter countless people with guns and modern weapons like that, but to end the lives of thousands of people and ruin that of countless others, all because of one choice, that's inhumane. I'd understand if they dropped it on a military base, it would make perfect sense, but both times the atomic bombs were launched, they were launched on heavily populated areas. What is the point of killing innocent civillians who wanted nothing to do with the war?
They made the same mistake twice, don't they think they can learn something from that by now? Violence never solved anything, it just brought upon more pain, that in its stead, brought upon more violence, and so on in an endless vicious circle.

Violence always begets more violence. I am more on Sabaku's side on this one. I think that human beings know too much for their own good. Wisdom is much more important than intelligence, and we, as human beings, have proven that over and over again.
Just because there is a way to create huge weapons of mass destruction and devastation, weapons that could destroy nature and change the very foundations of humans' and animals' DNA, it doesn't mean that we SHOULD do it. Peace is going to be impossible until people become wise, in my opinion. I think we would have been better off without nuclear weaponry being discovered in the first place.

I HATE nuclear weapons. I don't like fighting much, I want to be in the FBI, but I don't want to EVER have to shoot someone. I don't think I could handle it. I feel bad when I tell a small lie. How could you live with yourself if you pushed a button and millions of innocent people die?
