Yes, the government is butting their noses into yet more places it does not belong. And it is not just our USA government. Australia and China, among others, are also doing it. For parents to restrict their child's access may indeed be on thing, but for the government to decide just what programs should be installed to block things worldwide is beyond extreme. That aside, it violates more than one part of the American Constitution - The freedom of speech. And the internet provides that more openly than any other form of communication, worldwide. To cite a few sources: Censoring the InternetAustralia and China

Holy Cow, is this real? This is like banning books and stuff like that! America's government has become far too powerful and too controlling. Who are they to decide that the 'masses' can't handle or shouldn't see certain things? We're not a bunch of sheep--we are Americans, and our freedoms of speech and press and two of our most important values here. I wonder if there's a group of people protesting this somewhere. And how did this law pass? It's most certainly unconstitutional. The Supreme Court could never have legally let it get by. This is a result of politicians being corrupt and sneaky, getting by with rules that they never should have because of their friends in high places.

Well, the law has not been passed as of yet. But there is a bill on it. Fortunately enough, there is also a petition against it. Here you are. There are a lot of signatures on it already, which is certainly for the better. However, I'd have to agree with everything you've said here. And you said it perfectly.

Yeah, at some extent. If I was an american (which I am not) and was under an internet dictatorship/censorship like that (which I am also not) and someone locked my anime/manga from me...
Let's just say it wouldn't be pretty ._.

Hehe, you're Canadian. Silly Canadians. JK, JK
Anyway, I don't like that the government is trying to control what we can and cannot see. It's our own decision and that's that.

I don't think the goverment should tell us what to freaking do. Just worry about insane (No offense pyshcos.) dictators with nuclear weapons who wanna kill us. Let the parents and the adults decide what their kids can or cannot see.
