Based off of a combination of astrological myths, though the idea randomly appeared. ^_^
Universe
Gentle caress of the moonlight, harsh brand of the sunlight.
By the star's light, plight of the solar system ignites.
People of the sun, people of the moon.
War and strife, or peace and light?
Stand and fight, or leave from sight?
Stars and planets unite, but for what right?
To defend the universe, a common enemy born.
Rest not, or risk the fate of the torn.

I suppose I'll get my older poems out of the way now ... Well ... This one was my first, XD: Missing You
As I watch the sakura blossoms fall, I cannot help but think of it all.
The evening breeze is slight, As if it knows my plight.
Staring at the moon, I think of you.
Of one so true, With eyes so blue, Now I'm missing you.

Again, this is an older poem (my second): How can I?
Standing in the rain I sigh, And ask why?
Why am I afraid of my affection, Do I fear rejection?
As the days go by, My confidence remains nigh.
Your departure draws near, Yet I'm bound by fear.
My heart says yes, But I can only guess.
How can I speak, For who do you seek?

A bit more recent than the last two, but still from late 2008 (although I do like this one more ): Soaring
Staring up at the sky, I watch the doves fly.
A calming sight, Framed by evening light.
One lands near, Beckoning for me to banish fear.
A ray of hope appears, For me to tell the one I hold dear.
Warmth washes over me, Like a flaming sea.
The dove coos it's song, Lifting into flight to where it belongs.
A white dove, Soaring on the wings of love.

Time for another update, XD. This is one of my better poems, too. (Even if it is older.) ^_^ Blue Eyes
Though cool as ice, They bear little strife.
Two of the palest blue, Clear as the morning dew.
Powerful as fire, Blue flames that keep jumping higher.
Pale blue eyes, Reflecting the endless sky.
They are the key to my heart, And right from the start, I knew I couldn't part.

Based off of the kitsune myth. "Fox Fire" and the misting rain are reference to how they get married, and the former means the one they love. Fox Fire
Some say we are but lore, Creatures of myth and legend. Yet we are much more, With powers beyond what most rend.
A kitsune of fire, Master of many a guise. Capable of love and ire, Causing human and fox to rise.
Few continue to trust, Blinded by their light. Putting off what is our must, Denying vixen sight.
We of many tails, Paws and hearts of change. Searching for our spirit's sails, To glide on the sky's range.
Only another can make us whole, Carrying our eternal heat. Joining us to create one soul, When we meet.
It is our dearest hope, To wed under misting rain, Trot into the stars at a lope, For naught will remain the same.
Now it is I who seeks, Listening to your soothing lyre. Wishing to be complete, Now that I've found my fox fire.

Something for a poetry contest. I doubt I'll do very good, but I thought I'd give it a shot. The word "spring" was required in it, and the limit was six lines. A Spring Tale
Feel the gentle spring wind, New beginnings and the breath of life, Chance for the past to no longer rend.
Lore of legend and light, Sakura grace now in full bloom, Peace and love, finally in sight.

Written from the PoV of a new character of mine, and her current position. Dividing Lines
Some say hope no longer exists, That there is no song of dawn. Nary a feeling of bliss, We of the caged long foregone.
Yet, there are some unbroken, Spirit remaining free. Some remain unspoken, Prepared to rise from the debris.
Guided down a narrow path, Forever lighting our own way. Lest we feel another’s wrath, We evade temptations to stray.
Even at power’s force, We’ve little to lose. Naught to remorse, Among ever shifting hues.
Life marches on, Into a future ablaze. Returning to dawn, Under another’s kind gaze.

My first attempt at Haiku, XD. Based off of the Kistune myth, and the minor myths connected to it. Also inspired by Buson's single haiku: "Was that a fox" "or a prince in disguise" "this hazy spring evening?"I'm not sure if standard grammar for regular poetry applies to haiku, so I used Basho's and Buson's general grammar, XD. Kitsune Moon - Haiku Quartet
Moonlight graces a gently lapping sakura blossom cast pond.
Lady of change, loyalty and deception. Myth surrounds thee.
Nine graceful tails, eyes of amber light, gleam this spring night.
Love, fox or princess? Winding trails of fate, mists of the moon.
