Mythical, I gotta say dragons, griffons, and anything really creepy and weird. Realistic are of course lions, big cats in general, wolves, dolphins, and (thanks to my fanatic friend who owns them) ferrets.

You'd probably also like the barquest, then. French myth about a 'death dog'. I think J.K. Rowling got her inspiration for the Grim from that piece of folklore, because it goes along the same lines - you see it, you die within a set time frame. ^^
