[responding to the Wolf Song prompt, because of sudden inspiration, though I suppose it could go with the current prompt as well.]
The beast ran quickly through the chill night air. As the sun had dipped below the horizon, a fell mist had crept through the forest, sapping any warmth from his bones. His breathing was ragged and his heart was pounding.
Blood would be spilled this night.
The full moon above shone bright throughout the sky, though the pervading mists below filtered and reflected the light, causing even more of a hindrance to him. Yet he knew the way.
The hunting party was not far off. They had killed his family, and now he would begin to extract his revenge. He struck without warning, mercilessly slaughtering all in the glade.
As the blood of men spilled out and soaked the ground, he let loose with a blood-curdling cry. A howl of rage; of remorse.
The wolf song was heard throughout the forest that night.
Drunk, singing pirates!

Steel met steel in a brilliant clash of warriors upon the flagship. The sun beat down upon the combatants as they fought for control. Those clad in red held the ship prior to the battle. They were the king's men, and normally not to be trifled with.
Those clad in black, however, were pirates. And not just any pirates, but the famed Drunken Buccaneers. They sailed across the seas, wreaking havoc and destruction in their wake. The king had offered an incredible bounty for their demise, yet none could contend with their skill.
There were two things completely unique to the Drunken Buccaneers that no other pirate crew could copy. First, every time they ransacked a town, or attacked a ship, they were all completely drunk, almost to the point of falling over. Secondly, they sang as they battled.
Even now, their voices rang out in unison: "With a high high ho, and a high high hey! We're bound to be close to the sea! Our captain will stand on the bridge and sing: Pirates are all we can be! With a high high ho, and a high high hey! We're hoisting the flag to be free! We'll steal the show, Jolly Rogers go! We are wolves of the sea!"
The pirate captain shouted out, "Key change, men!"
The men instantly began their chorus in unison, changing keys perfectly and still fighting better than the king's men. Within minutes, the pirates had finished their song, and had vanquished the king's men. They sailed on to fight, and drink and sing, another day.
A longing to return home.
[BTW, that chorus up there is from an actual song. PM me if you want to hear the whole thing; Pirate metal is freaking awesome. ]

It had been some time since he'd left, and he was beginning to regret it. A loner or not, travel in solitude was slowly eating away at him. Utter silence and lack of companionship, so it seemed, had taken their toll. The young man heaved a sigh after a moment, adjusting his grip on his staff. His sightless eyes longing to be near what he knew clearly once more. The silvery-white gaze wandered over his surroundings as he walked, listening with rapt attention whilst tapping the wooden staff along as he walked. Seeking a home once more.
The fear of change.

She looked out into the golden sunset. She saw the machines coming to her fields, destroying her crops and changing them into a metropolis.
"I can't let them do this...I can do nothing, but I cannot do this."
Then a bizarre thought crossed her mind. What if they went for her too? She trembled in the light of the falling sun with the belief her extermination shall pass before the night ended.
"This is just too much," she whispered, "I need to escape. Someone...help me." But no-one was there, she was about to witness an incredible change...which she never wanted.
Crossing of worlds...

Sasha's gaze briefly settled on her parents, before nodding to them. "Farewell, then. I hope to return eventually, but it may take a while," the Guardian said, though offering a small smile. Though their sub-race was all but immortal, the prospect of traveling to an entirely different universe or world was daunting for one just coming of age. She would eventually find the world she belonged in permanently, they said, but it would be sure to take time.
The young woman's gaze moved to the resonating portal, before stepping towards it. Her white wings gleamed in the morning sun, as her boots clicked on the flagstone path. Vanishing into the swirling void.
Light in the Dark.

He cowered in the darkness, dreading the coming light. The darkness was all he had ever known, all he had ever embraced. When all others had forsaken him, when even the light had told him he was no good, he had turned to the darkness. And in the darkness, he had found his purpose.
But now, the light was coming, and it would not stop. He twitched and convulsed as he felt its burning presence drawing nearer. Fear grew in his mind like a fast-moving poison. He knew if the light found him, it would be his end.
Suddenly, flashes of light as bright as the sun pierced his world. He screamed in fury and in pain. How dare the light try to take his home! He tried with all his might to fight back.
The light was too strong, however. As his flesh burned to ash, his shrieks of pain could be heard throughout the night.
The thrill of the hunt

Snow crunched under the wolf’s paws as it ran, muscles rippling underneath the thick black pelt. Amber eyes fixated on the prey ahead of it, honed senses tuning into every sound, smell, and sight. A streak in the night, only the starlight betraying its motion. The beast suddenly jumped, soaring through the star speckled sky as if bearing wings. A startled cry was jerked from the man as all of its weight barreled into him, only to be silenced. Blood spattered the night. The wolf’s form slowly changing, mutating back into that of a human. A small smile playing about the young man’s lips. A shapeshifting assassin.
Lesser than he.

He snorted derisively as he watched his younger brother depart. As they had grown up together, they had fought constantly. Now, once maturity threatened to broker peace, a new fight was kindled. Not only was he not good enough, his younger brother was the new standard.
His younger brother! Oh, how insulted he felt! To be thrashed time and again by the parents he loved and looked up to, only to realize his younger sibling was the unspoken standard they had held him to all these years!
He fled to his secret place; the place his family never knew about. It was here where he poured out his grief. He wept for hours upon hours, until tears no longer came. He then stood and left his secret place, rejoining his family. They would never know his pain... They would never care...
An unexpected surprise.

“What are you doing here?”
Kitty pivoted, startled. The jade eyed thief tensed, instinctively taking stance. The onyx tressed teenager glared at the arrival, having expected anything but this. “I could ask the same of you …” she returned levelly, knowing her risks had just skyrocketed. The joys of being trapped in a lifestyle with someone else pulling the strings. “After all … You said you’d never lower yourself to the level of a common thief … Even if the rewards were steep.”
“You have a choice, you know,” the other drawled, holding her gaze.
“No, I don’t. And you wouldn’t understand why,” the young woman said after a moment, hanging her head. Shame cloaking her masked features, a single mistake in the past mounting up to many others in the past five years. An unexpected surprise bringing it all up again.
Stars in the eyes.

His breath quickened as he ran, soft padding and panting right next to him. The assassin and his Pokemon partner ran through the dark corridors, trying to find the exit. The wretched mission had gone completely awry after he'd panicked while walking through some dark corridors. The partners had never liked the dark. And running through the hallways, struggling to escape from the people chasing them from behind.
He was so caught up in his thoughts, convinced that the dark walls would close on him any day now, swallow him up and hurt him some more that he never noticed the pole cutting the path in half.
His Luxray was too late in warning him as he practically ran into the pole, falling down with a grunt. Quickly rendered half-conscious, stars slowly started exploding in front of his eyes as he struggled to get up. He had to keep running, for his life, for his Pokemon, for his identity.
