Name:
Fantasy Forest
Location:
From my own imagination, but I like to pretend it's a part of an entire world, just not our own.
Appearance:
Great trees tower above even the largest creatures, creating a thick, lush canopy that allows for little sunshine to get through the plentiful branches and leaves. Bright, poisonous plants are scattered throughout, with wild, vividly colored flowers--some benign, some malevolent--each with their own powers.
This old forest feels strongly of magic, left over by the centuries-deceased fae that once inhabited it. Vines, seemingly docile, wrap around the great trees as if to aspire to be as tall as they. Animals are heard but not seen, preferring to camouflage themselves and hide rather than meet others face to face. Scents of beautiful flowers cover the scents of death and decay that often occur here in this deceptively serene environment.
History:
This forest is thousands of years old, first inhabited by the dragons of old, then by the fae--fine-featured, small faeries. Some of the fae had good hearts, helping those along their path, while others, like the kelpies, deceived humans into trusting them, only to devour their hapless victims. Though magic still survives in some of the animals and in the trees and flowers, the fae have long been extinct.
Obstacles:
Trees are not always what they seem, sometimes becoming Treants and attacking anything that they fear is a threat to their forest. Animals will normally leave you alone...unless hunting for prey. Their magical talents will sometimes catch you in a web of sleep or leave you as smoldering remains. Vines will entangle you, and some flowers may poison you if brushed against. However, if you know what you are looking for, many plants have healing abilities, and some may give you temporary numbness, increased hearing ability, or even magnify your own magic.
Status:
Open.
Other:
Only magical animals are allowed here as of yet.
