Welcome to the Breeder's Class.
Bulbapedia -
Pokemon Breeding.
Eggs
Breeding:
Pokemon are more or less a mix of animal and human, they're highly intelligent. Just because you put two (genetically) compatible Pokemon in the same field for an hour or two does not mean you'll come back to an egg. They have to fancy the other, care for them. Mating would probably be a big thing from the pokemon's point of view. Think of how a human would feel when it comes to mating, for example. Its not something you do on whim, even if you are very attached to someone. Only those that are "official" mates between themselves would do so without any setbacks.
Also, when it comes to the breeding pairs, make sure it at least would be acceptable via-game.
Specifically for the Breeders, though: Most of the time those that run daycares are elderly, meaning it takes time to learn all the ins-and-outs of things. The green-apron breeders are usually young, so they are merely learning them. It would still take years of commitment to construct an environment friendly to almost all types of pokemon, not to mention the task of finding the funds to do so. Another reason why the daycare owners are elderly, as it took time.
Please put thought and consideration into your Pokemon Pairings, and it'll make them appear much better than if you simply wing it.
Eggs:
You can receive an egg from someone, or even start with an egg, but do not expect it to hatch within a few posts. Even if you do shorter RPs (which will most likely be the subplots for SoJ), it'll take at least one for it to crack and produce. Do keep in mind that the baby pokemon are vulnerable, though, and not as steadfast as their older counterparts.
