Name:[/i] Selena Raho
Age: [/i] 15-16
Gender:[/i] Female
Race: [/i] Hylian
Homeland:[/i] Hyrule / Labrynna
Class/Job (optional):[/i] Warrior / Cleric / Mystic
Appearance: [/i] Selena stands roughly 5’1, weighing around 100 pounds. Her petite and slender form is lightly tanned, though just enough to tell. While her body is also toned from constant travel, one couldn’t tell it from a single passing glance. Selena’s pale blonde (comparable to electrum) tresses fall to her hips in a single smooth wave, parted in the middle. Her hair is almost white its such a pale shade, and is fairly shiny despite that she does little more than comb it. When she’s required to dress formally, then she’ll tie it back with either a silver circlet or a cobalt blue ribbon into a half ponytail. Selena’s eyes are a soft cobalt blue, resembling something mere shades lighter than sapphires. Her brows are relatively thin, feminine, and they arch slightly.
- Attire (Three mains): She generally adorns a plain pale blue shirt, longsleeved (that or a somewhat overlarge blue tunic). With that, white trousers and knee high brown boots. While all of this is rather plain, one ornament does stick out against the ensemble. A bracelet encircles her right hand, small aquamarine-like crystalline beads around the silver “thread”. Though she does not tend to wear the former very often, she always adorns a golden pendant that bears Nayru’s Symbol after receiving it.
Her other ensemble is much more noticeable, though also interesting. A sleeveless white tunic clothes her torso, trimmed with silvery thread. A thin blue and gold sash fastens the tunic just above her hips, its ends tied so it hangs to her left. Pale blue trousers emerge from the tunic hem, which are then tucked inside of her boots. A sapphire blue cape hangs from Selena’s shoulders, fastened by another cloak-hook. She also wears the pendant with this.
Selena’s final, formal outfit falls straight to the floor in one flowing silver-blue ripple. While the dress is floorlength, it lacks the many petticoats that seem to be of the norm. It fits snugly around her waist and from the elbows up, the hem curving into a sharp “V” at the front of her waist. The skirt part of her gown flows from that easily, undeterred by the single petticoat underneath it. Her sleeves flare at the elbows, blossoming loosely to her wrists. With this as well, she wears the pendant. It is also in this ensemble that she is likely to use the circlet, despite the unusual simplicity of the gown considering the area. Much to her dismay, this is also when Zelda messes with her hair to make it formal. Of course, it’ll happen anyway since she can’t really do it herself.
Weapons/Armor/Magic: [/i]
- Weapons: Her main weapon consists of a plain steel rapier, once belonging to her father. Its hilt is without ornamentation or a leather grip that would need to be replaced, but the blade is well cared for and polished.
- Armor: For the most part, Selena tends to go without armor unless the situation truly calls for it. When she does acquire some, its usually plain alloy gauntlets and/or a breastplate with shoulder guards.
- Magic: Seeing as magic is Selena’s largest area of defense and offense, this is also where she is the most seasoned. Shields are her strongest suit, oftentimes used to protect her companions and herself. In offensives, she tends to use simple spheres or what her companions began calling a “Tidal wave” form of attack. Obviously, considering her patron Goddess, most of Selena’s magic is a sapphire blue in color. With her healing-focused magic, however, it is more or less a soft silver-blue.
Hobbies/Occupations:[/i] As a bard, Selena tends to sing quite a bit. With this, she also plays a lyre (a small harp).
Skills/Abilities: [/i]
- Skills: With a fair bit of practice and time poured into it while she was growing and traveling, Selena developed a good amount of skill in musical arts by the time she was barely fifteen. But, despite that, she is still too shy to show the fruits of her efforts to most people.
Other than that, she is also fairly skilled in usual medical treatments, as it is her goal to eventually become a healer. Her other talent is her ease of picking up languages, having spent much time in her youth studying Ancient Hylian in a rather expensive-looking but very worn out tome that her parents had passed down to them even. She can read the olden tongue quickly, but translating still takes a bit of time.
- Abilities: Aside from magical poweress, Selena is also empathic. Without focusing, she can sense nearby emotions and essences (the core of one’s being, what shapes who they are). When focusing, she can sense people further away and inspect their essences. She is also capable of using already existing bodies of water around her for varying things, depending on what she is aiming for.
Personality: [/i] Selena is of a gentle disposition for the most part, and easily considers people friends. She’s shy and easily embarrassed even around people she has known for some time, though it lessens a bit. Reluctant to harm anyone, or in any way. Some would consider her weak for her usually passive mindset, even taking her empathic powers into account. Selena would avoid actually killing someone at all costs, though is not always able to evade the situation. But, despite that, Selena finds herself caring for people she’s just met.
She has a stubborn streak in her as well, and once she decides on something, it takes quite a bit to make her budge. Coupled with that is a protective feel, one that drives her to guard the her companions whenever the need arises. Although level tempered, it is still possible to irk her. When thoroughly angered or upset, her empathic powers tend to actually boost her own. Selena also loves to dance, and has learned quite a few kinds of it from often playing the music to dance to.
However, she knows more than she likes to show. This usually causes people to underestimate her, but leads to bemusement when it turns out something was ‘irrelevant’.
Bio/History:[/i] For as long as Selena could remember, she was constantly traveling with her mother and father. They moved from town to town, region to region. Even going as far as to traverse through different countries, their search was thorough. When she first asked, they told her they were searching for a person dubbed “Nayru’s Guardian”.
Because of constantly traveling, Selena remains confused as to whether she comes from Hyrule or Labrynna even at sixteen. But, following in her parents footsteps, she too searches for the Guardian. Her mother said that their goal was to both return a sacred Harp to the Guardian, and to awaken Nayru’s second bearer as there would be a time of need according to an olden prophecy. According to the said tome, there would be another time of need beyond what the Holders could handle. The Guardians themselves served several purposes, as well as filling the center of the Triforce.
Traveling as bards, they used their voices to earn their keep at varying places while on the search. While Selena spent much of her time training her voice and learning the ancient tongue, she was often too shy to perform in front of more than three people. Thusly, she also spent time learning healing arts and applying her affinity towards healing magic to people in villages and larger towns. This also allowed her to use her empathic ability to search for a powerful essence, though she made a point not to mention it unless someone had already found out.
Six months from her turning of age to sixteen, the trio of bards fell ill to a strange fever that swept through the area they were traveling through. Unlike usual ones, it had odd sideaffects and pains accompanying it. While Selena didn’t contract one as badly as her parents, it was still enough to physically weaken her for several weeks. Yet, when she continued, it was alone.
It was then her turn to shoulder the task of finding the Guardian, as it had gone on for generations. Guilt of not being able to help her parents make it through the illness follows at the back of her mind, creating a hidden fear of treating people with unnamed illnesses or fevers. Afraid that she’ll fail again, and create another loss of life. But, no matter the circumstance, Selena still had to find the Guardian.
That task was what soon brought her towards Hyrule, after finishing the thorough search of several surrounding regions.
Likes:[/i] Kent (& company), musical and imagery arts such as instrumentals/voice and drawings, animals in general (though horses and Keatons are her favorites), and most areas of nature; although water-filled areas are her preference.
Dislikes: [/i] Anything spicy, such as peppers or Red Potions. She also dislikes heat, or in extreme cases, the desert (because of its blistering heat to frigid cold climate).
Weaknesses/Strengths: [/i]
- Weaknesses: One of her strengths, empathy, works as a dual sided sword. While it has its perks, being around many people with emotions running amok hurts Selena’s very essence and mind. The stronger the emotions, the easier it is to give her a headache or worse.
One of her “physical” weaknesses, per say, is a mineral called Lodestone. Embodying essences itself, it easily clashes with her own and when cut or harmed by it, that wound is not easily healed. Dark Energy goes along the same lines, more or less.
- Strengths: Healing and defensive magic is definitely among Selena’s better developed skills, having had a knack for them since she was first able to use them. She also uses her very personality to her advantage at times, managing to convince some to stand down and “stop” them from attacking. Also using her small size to her advantage, it allows Selena to maneuver battles easier than one of larger stature. Able to learn and speak languages quickly, Selena uses her talent for learning Ancient Hylian throughout most of her youth and retains it quite well. Translating is still slow, but that is more or less when writing it out.
