Name:[/i] Miriam Althalos (goes by “Shakti” when taking jobs.)
Age:[/i] 19
Gender:[/i] Female
Race: [/i]Hylian
Homeland:[/i] Hyrule / Holodrum
Class/Job (optional):[/i] Rouge / Elementalist / Shadow-Wielder (Mercenary)
Appearance:[/i] Standing at just over 5’5, Miriam weighs roughly 116 pounds. Her lithe form is toned and lightly tanned. The young woman’s eyes are a striking garnet color, both sharp as well as coy. Miriam’s thick umber locks fall halfway down her back, cut cleanly and often. Despite the apparent thinness of her body, Miriam is stronger than she looks at first glance.
- Attire (Main three): She wears a plum colored sleeveless tunic, lined with silver thread. While the tunic is of usual fabric for the most part, the two sides at her hips are split roughly four inches up. Also lined with the silver thread, it allows further movement. Her trousers are a deep burgundy scarlet, tucked inside bark brown boots. Other than that, she apparently has an intense liking for rubies, wearing a stud in each earlobe.
Miriam’s second ensemble is definitely noticeable, consisting mainly of striking scarlet and white. Rather like Kent and Selena, her tunic is made of sturdy white cloth, just tight enough to make feminine traits visible. Pale rose colored trousers, belted with plain brown which holds her knife sheaths, encase her legs and lower body. Deep brown boots protect her legs, stopping just above her ankle. Alloy covers the tops and sides of her boots in pieces, allowing them to be flexible but at the same time light considering the mix of metal. A deep scarlet cape adorns her shoulders, pinned with a golden cloak-hook.
Her final, formal outfit is a daring plum and silver mix. Unlike most of the norm, even with the noblewomen’s summer gowns for dances, her startling choice of dark color is entirely sleeveless, even going as far as to show the edges of her shoulder blades. The gown itself is snugly fitting from waist up, the hem curving into the usual sharp “V” at the front of her hips. Silver thread trims both the “V” shape in the lower hem, the edges of the “sleeves”, and the “V” shape in the neck of her gown. The gown itself falls smooth to the floor, but without a single petticoat underneath.
Weapons/Armor/Magic: [/i]
- Weapons: Miriam mainly uses daggers and knives. Her main dagger is an alloy sheath at the side of her belt, two smaller throwing knives tucked inside each boot. She also uses a serrated short sword, liking to tear her opponents apart rather than giving clean cuts that are easier to heal should they survive.
- Armor: While she doesn’t use much armor in general, Miriam makes up for that by the fact that she’s light footed. She adorns specially fitted steel gauntlets that mainly cover the top half of her forearm, leather straps securing them. A mix of alloy and steel form shoulder guards, just loose enough to allow regular movement, but like the gauntlets, are restrained by two “X” shaped straps across her front and back.
- Magic: Playing with fire is one of Miriam’s favorite things to do, enjoying the thrill of the flames and her affinity to Din.
Hobbies/Occupations: [/i]Acting more or less as a mercenary or assassin for hire, Miriam is almost constantly on the move. When not in commission, she tends to exploit valuables on occasion (which can usually be resold, unless it really catches her eye). Her liking for rubies was what obtained her earrings, though her unbound hair hides usually hides them from other plunderers.
Skills/Abilities: [/i]
- Skills: While Miriam is naturally light footed, it took a bit of practice to become so quiet when moving. She is also well in practice with throwing knives, more often than not hitting her target with precision. Miriam, like Kain, is also fairly skilled in manipulating people to her whim.
- Abilities: Capable of manipulating already existing fires to her will, she can send them flaring to diminish them to hot coals with focusing.
Personality:[/i] Miriam is very creative when it comes to answering questions, oftentimes spinning quick tales to substitute the truth if she does not wish to answer. If she does not feel like even doing that, she’ll ignore the question and try to change the subject. Much like the one whom she spent much time with on missions and in personal, Miriam is quite capable of being manipulative and likes to tease. This teasing usually doesn’t come off well, and angers more people than she originally intends to.
But, despite her … qualities, she is also capable of kindness. Oddly enough, though Miriam does not easily get attached, once she does, she’ll do her utmost to protect them or it. At first encounter she often comes off as proud, haughty, and perhaps even cruel. Once one gets to know her, those blatant emotions begin to drop and give way to steadier ones that strengthen bonds and are more productive.
She isn’t easily stressed, but tends to get very snippy when it does get to her. Time as a mercenary earned her both favor and disfavor among many, so she avoids people in general when in towns when with her new companions, not wishing to have blame fall to them. All in all, Miriam can become very loyal once she is decided.
Bio/History:[/i] Growing up in-between Holodrum and Hyrule, she spent much of her childhood going back and forth between them, being something of an “errand” girl. She quickly grew tired of that, wanting to have some time for herself and wanting to actually make a profit for her efforts. By the time she was fourteen, having stayed at a warrior’s home as an apprentice, she was already becoming adept in the blade and knives. When he decided she was strong enough to leave on her own, he presented her with her serrated short sword, her favorite type.
Not long afterwards she began taking mercenary jobs, and grew to love the thrill of battle. It never seemed to lose its spark for her, and she felt no major moral qualms about killing. That soon became “just another body”, becoming something of an assassin. At the age of eighteen she first encounter Kain, whom she’d been assigned with.
At the time he’d still been a Knight of Hyrule, but was taking double orders. She took a liking to his daring, becoming involved. Some time later, when she had joined with Shadow and the others, she wondered about herself and the extent of her reasoning with Kain … But still found that she cared for him a bit, even after finding out where her heart truly lay.
Likes:[/i] Heat and places like deserts, the thrill of battle, Kain, Shadow (& company, after a while), time to soak in springs, training, and travel.
Dislikes:[/i] Cold weather, long time obligations (at first), being an “underling”, being stuck in one place for too long (tending to get “cabin fever” and very, very snappy).
Weaknesses/Strengths: [/i]
- Weaknesses: Miriam gets cold easily, and doesn’t like it. Preferring hot places to cold, she finds her aim in battle can fail when she’s distracted by the chill. This both frustrates and angers her, wanting to be unrivaled by most, thusly makes her aim even more wavering. But, her getting cold easily also weakens her physically, sometimes reducing her to curling up under a blanket and refusing to move.
- Strengths: She works well under heat, barely sweating in comparison to most of those accompanying her. Miriam is also able to move quickly over loose sand likes the desert dunes, having had much practice in doing so.
