Honestly, at first I didn't like what new things were being added to the games. I mean, the graphics were nice, but I didn't like the Pokemon or the story.
But now that it's been a while, It's starting to grow on me a little.
What about you guys?
How do you all feel about the fourth generation?

I like them all right, but Platinum is far better than either Diamond or Pearl. Personally, the Sinnoh contests suck, but the rest of the game is still passable or okay. It had potential, but the potential wasn't fully exploited.
If Nintendo really wants to continue the cash-cow they have with the Pokemon franchise, they need to make more games like the Orre ones. (Actually interesting and satisfying plots, characters, designs, villains, etc. They did pretty much everything right in those two games.)

Orre was Collisseum... right?
I honestly never played much of those games.
And I think they're going to push my limits with the new games.
Because it doesn't look too good from what I'm seeing.

Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness, yes. But, you should when you get the chance.
As for the new games, well ... I think that we will finally get some decent, mature plot. I'm willing to give them a chance, if only for that. However, I highly doubt I'll be using the fire type starter. Nothing like calling out "roast pork" to fight, huh?

Out of your lack of faith in the fire starter I shall be choosing him.
Actually, Infernape is one of the best pokemon in the game (Gen. 4, of course)
It also had a HUGE effect on the competitive battling world, as you can imagine.

*Chuckles.* All right. I just find that starter in particular highly amusing.
Touche, you've a very good point. Infernape is probably the best pokemon to come along out of Generation 4, in every regard. (Not to mention there is this one author on PokeCharms, who has an epic tale going on. I'll see if he wants to give SoJ a shot, since he's actually a fanboy of my writing, XD.)

I thought that most of the new Pokemon designs were really stupid. Honestly. Who wants a giant nose-rock-moustache man for a Pokemon? Come on. There were a few that were OK, but it also bothered me that there were so many new 'legendary' Pokemon added. If everyone's legendary, nobody is. Pokemon that control time and space? Pffff. However, Shinx, Luxio, and Luxray were amazing. Totally my fave.
I also hated the Poffin making thing. In order to do those contests, you have to spend hours spinning and stirring the poffins just right just to feed a million of them to various Pokemon. And how are you supposed to figure out how to make Feebas evolve into Milotic without looking it up? Seriously. Also, trying to catch that one little legendary that travelled all over the place was much harder than trying to catch Raikou or Entei in Gold/Silver. I forgot the name of it. The game also dragged on for a long time. Finding 398 Pokemon gets wearing after a while.
I did like the storyline, though. I thought it was pretty cool. Although I think they could have come up with a better name than 'team Galactic' for the main bad guy. And Giratina, while being yet another legendary Pokemon, is badass.

I think they should have a darker, deeper plot. I liked Emerald/Ruby/Sapphire's plot although it was somewhat very innocent as well. They should have things like disappearing Pokemon and REAL crminals, not criminals who challenge you to battles they're destined to lose, but REAL criminals that when they lose, they tie you up and throw you in a lake or something. I want more drama, and LOTS more cutscenes. Cause they didn't have enough character developpment in ANY of the PKMN games so far. I LIKE LUXRAYS <3<3 Yeah, or they could keep it as is. I mean, it is a children's game, after all "

*Sweatdrop.* Considering it is a children's game, they put an awful lot of nightmare-fuel in it. And look at what happens when authors make the universe of Pokemon realistic - Some of that nightmare-fuel comes true. Hmm ... Maybe I should make a thread on this in the General Pokemon board ... *Musing.*
But, I do like that the first arc of Gen IV did have some criminals with truly dark intentions. Sure, the past four generations all had the capacity to be that way, but not many were. Gen III, sort of, but they didn't quite grasp it. The only canonically "dark" series was the Orre Sidegames. If only they implemented that into a teen version of the franchise, XD.

I think Diamond/Pearl came out the best of all the PKMN series right now. I really go for the plot instead of the pokemons featured in the game, and I really did enjoy D/P/PT (: Although R/S/E's plots were remarkable as well O: But you're right, they SHOULD have more nightmare fuel in it. It might make them lose some younger audience members, but think of all the older youth audience members they'd gain *_* I'd be an avid fan if something truly dark ever happened in a PKMN game
