*Smiles.* As I said, check out the Gamecube additions to the series. "Colloseum," and "XD: Gale of Darkness." You'll find them very satisfactory, both plot wise and in the darkness factors. They're more than likely my favorite games of the series, a side series itself or not. Orre is simply epic, hehe. But then, that is a Gen III game pair. I'm getting off subject.
Gen IV was all right for me, although it seemed they really did need the plot advancement of Platinum. Having played through Diamond already a few years ago, trudging through Platinum is proving far more interesting. I'd recommend it to those wanting an advancement in the plotline.

Yeah, I never played D or P. I only ever played Pt, and it was decent, story wise. Giratina was creepy D:

I've played through Platinum, and have played SOME of Diamond. They're both pretty good, but as most people seem to be saying, I infinitely preferred the plot in Platinum. The Pokemon were a bit hit and miss, but I do like some of them (Shinx/Luxio/Luxray, to be REALLY specific)
All in all, good fun, definitely rebooted my interest in the franchise after skipping Gen III.

LUXRAYYYYYYYYYYY <3 Probably the only thing that hooked me onto the game :'D But the plot was quite intricate too, I like it when people try to dominate the world (:
