This thread serves the purpose of giving people here a clear definition of SPAM. Read or ye shalt be disfigured with a mailbox.
SPAM, stands for Stupid, Pointless and Annoying Messages (or for "Something Posing As Meat", but that's beside the point).
What constitutes or defines SPAM? Here's a helpful definition.
* Freakishly short Posts: Stuff like "Yes", "Okay", "I don't know", "We know that", et cetera. If you don't have anything to say in a topic, don't do so. If someone asks a question, for cryin' out loud, don't say you don't know the answer! If you don't have anything important to say - don't say it.
Clarifying: One liners are not permitted unless in word games.
* Pointless Posts: Posts that have NOTHING to do with the topic. At all. If the conversation sways off topic, that's one thing. If it's just starting a whole new topic with no connection to last one, start a new freakin' thread, or keep it to yourself. And keep topics where they belong. Don't post a question asking about avatar help on the general Pokemon discussion board.
* Abuse of Smileys: One smiley at the end of a sentence can get your point across. Multiple smileys in a row is really annoying to look at. So please, for the sake of everyone's sanity, don't abuse smileys in your posts.
* Poor Responses: Or posts that are little more than "I think _____ is the best because I said so". Everyone has an opinion - no matter how jaded it may seem - but we still want to know WHY you think that way. If you can't even give a discussion that much, chances are you're just looking for a quick way to boost your post count - and that's annoying. Quality over quantity: learn it, know it, use it.
* Advertising: Advertising is not allowed. At all. This goes for private messages too. This does not pertain for if someone requests a link in conjecture with a topic. Basically, if you say you saw something somewhere and someone asks you where you got it from, you may point it out. Otherwise, use your signatures.
Clarifying: There will be a board for this. Anywhere else is considered SPAM.
There you have it; SPAM explained. Avoid doing so, and your stay here will likely be very enjoyable. We hope that you enjoy a SPAM-free stay on this board.
