The following may be used to begin with in your character's roster. Limited to three pokemon to start out with.

Fire: Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchic, Chimchar, Growlithe, Vulpix, Ponyta
Flying: Pidgey, Spearow, Starly, Hoothoot, Gligar, Taillow
Ghost: Duskull, Shuppet, Misdreavus, Drifloon, Gastly, Sableye
Grass: Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Treecko, Turtwig, Bellsprout, Budew

All three of my Pokemon I want to start with aren't accepted, and they're not legendaries or anything special T.T

What about
buizel, zubat, and shinx?

I want my character to come from Floaroma town in Sinnoh, and those Pokemon are plentiful around where she lives.

I'll add shinx to the list, but remember you can catch any pokemon that there is (aside from Gen V currently) as long as the location is logical.

UPDATE: Now that Gen V has been translated on Bulbapedia, you may begin using the non-legendaries from it.

Since Black and White are to be released as soon as this Friday, I propose an update to the starter list. Here's a few that I think are worthy, based on what my other forum has implemented:

Fighting: Timburr
Fire: Tepig
Flying: Pidove
Grass: Snivy, Petilil, Cottonee
Ground: Drilbur
Ice: Vanillite
Normal: Minccino, Lillipup, Patrat

Water: Oshawott.
Steel: Klink
Ghost: Litwick
Psychic: Gothita, Solosis
Dark: Purrloin, Zorua

Thank you for making these suggestions, as I am not yet familiar with Gen V pokemon in order to make the decisions. I'll look them up on Bulbapedia and see about it. ^_^
