Considering this was supposed to be a children's game to start with, back in Generation I, I'm honestly surprised at some of the pokemon they included. Nature may indeed be harsh, but I'm sure long-time and new gamers alike to this series have noticed odd pokedex entries here and there. I think its safe to say that the game developers had more in mind than the happy-go-lucky world that seemed to be depicted right off the bat in the games and anime both.
As some examples, look at the pokemon kabutops. Half of its Pokedex entries flat out say that it "slashes with its claws and then drains bodily fluids". That's kid-friendly, isn't it? And when that, along with the many other pokemon that are in first generation and even the following ones, is combined with one's imagination; the imagery can get rather disconcerting.
What other pokemon do you think could be the source of "Nightmare Fuel"? Any particular reason? Discuss.

Hmmmm,I've never thought about this very much, but it actually is pretty brutal. A similar matter than has bugged me for a while is... How did Cubone/Marowak get the skulls on their head? Did they kill another pokemon and take it with them? I mean, they couldn't have been born with it,could they... And what's beneath the skull?

*Nods.* Especially to people who try to figure out the statics of the daily life in some forms of their universe.
But that is a good question. I doubt that the cubone family dies in procreation, because if it did, when and if some eggs didn't survive, the species would become extinct. I know some animals do die when procreating, but ... Yeah~.

Drowzee and Hypno.
Drowzee eats peoples dreams, much like the legend of the tapir. But what's creepy is you can wake up and find it standing over your bed, eating your dreams!. Tell me that's not creepy to find out a Pokemon broke into your house!
And Hypno, the Pokedex even says it hypnotizes children and leads them away, never to be seen again. I may post later with my rant about how creepy Ditto is, but I made myself hate the pokemon by coming up with that, so maybe not.

I like how people are so obsessed with Legendaries being super powerful that they forget about the simple Pokemon that have abilities that would creep me the f*** out for WEEKS.
So, Gastly and Haunter can get through walls. They can go inside people and possess them. They can put you to sleep. They can eat your dreams, and your 'essence', which I'm assuming is your SOUL. Oh, and they can also lick you and cause you to shake uncontrollably until you die. Painfully. While they watch.
And the move 'Perish Song'. Is anyone else creeped out by this? It's a happy song that goes down in a demonic note and the screen gets red and black, while everything that hears it 'faints' after three turns. PERISH song. FAINTING. Don't go together. Creeeeepy :/
Shedinja steals your soul if you look at its back, apparently. And guess what you're staring at when you SEND IT INTO BATTLE???
Pokedex entry for Kabutops: "With their sharp claws, this ferocious ancient pokemon rips apart their prey and sucks their bodily fluids." WTF
There are so many more, but I don't feel like typing them all. Jeez, no wonder a lot of adults didn't like Pokemon when it came out :/
