PLOT:
Red, the famous and legendary Pokemon master, has sent out a challenge after 20 years of being the best Pokemon trainer there…uh, ever was. He has gotten permission to be the star of the Battle Frontier in Johto, and awaits anyone who can defeat him three times in a row will be given an amazing prize and the glory of defeating Red.
Of course, trainers everywhere are flocking and scrambling to be the one to defeat Red. They’re all training, catching, and generally causing nationwide Poke-craze. However, there are those who will make their way in honestly, through training and hard work, and there are those who will step on anyone who gets in their way…
SERIOUSLY DETAILED SUBPLOT:
Marcus Terka, the new CEO of Silph Co. has taken over after the previous owner died. He has continued the works of Silph Co., but is secretly seeking power. The status of the company has allowed Marcus to spread influential whispers among the people in Kanto and Johto through every Poke Mart and through the big building itself. Marcus is telling people that Pokemon are being endangered by people building towns and cities, and that they will soon become extinct. He has created pollution in places to make this lie more convincing, and he is using people’s concern to gain more power, money, and influence. People must donate to his company, and buy his products, he says, because he will save every Pokemon he can.
Marcus is using his power and influence to eventually control and capture such powerful Pokemon as Dialga and Palkia, and he is very interested in finding Lugia and Ho-oh as well. He thinks that these Pokemon will allow him to take over every town and region, making him effectively a dictator. He is planning to rule with a sort of Communist-like regime. He has already amassed a group of young trainers that are in on his secret, and he has told them things about glory, goodness and kindness to the people, and the ‘betterment of mankind’, but he is only using these people as a tool to get all others out of his way.
Red has noticed that something strange has been going on involving Silph Co., but he’s not exactly sure what. However, he tells everyone that he doesn’t trust Marcus Terka and that nobody should be that popular that fast. He also says that the problems involving dying Pokemon began only when Terka took over Silph Co. Only a few people have even halfway listened to Red, however, but Terka sees this as a threat and wants Red taken out. He will use his people to work his way towards seeing them defeat Red, eliminating those in his way by any means possible. If none of his underlings are able to defeat Red, then he will have the now 30-year-old master trainer assassinated.
RULES OF BATTLE vs. RED:
To defeat Red, the player must be accepted into a tournament, defeat all others in that tournament, and then fight Red. Red will have 3 teams of 6, therefore using 18 different Pokemon. This means that the player must battle him 3 times. The player also has the option of switching out parties of Pokemon, if he or she chooses.
The prize for winning against Red is $50,000, a Poke radar, and one of every kind of evolution-inducing stone or item, including such things as an up-grade, a King’s rock, etc. The player will also receive the title of being the best trainer in history so far, replacing Red’s status.
