I think that a good way to motivate people would be to organize writing contests. A theme would be picked every week or so, and the contestants have, say, 5 days to write something according to the rules and post it. Then, the admins can judge and give out a prize to the first place winner.
The prize can be a mention, or artwork, or a oneshot or anything of the sort.
I'm in a bunch of Deviantart groups, and personally, I believe their contests are what keep me up and running in their groups (:

Well, what's wrong with us setting it up ourselves and judging? We could totally do it, and have other people suggest topics and prompts and things. And have other judges and stuff when something comes up we wanna compete for. XD

Hehe, a bit late to the party? I've had a board for it for about three months now. I just wanted to do get the Drabble contest up and running before starting more. But, heck yeah, I'm open to this. ^_^ |
