All right, since this is a bit different from usual RPs, I'm going to make an alternate/additional set of rules for this.
I: No Godmodding
Probably one of the most important rules in RPBs, you cannot control the actions of your opponent.
a: Curative Spells & Items -
Unless "A-Okay'd" by your opponent, you cannot use fully restorative spells or other healing items. Spells are allowed, but you will use the entire turn (post) in order to do it. Essentially, forfeiting your attack for that turn. Conversely, items will alternate in usage time depending on their affects and what they are supposed to do.
b: Unavoidable Spells & Abilities -
FORBIDDEN. Anything that "forces your opponent" to do something, or they cannot stand even a small chance of dodging, parrying, or countering; is excluded from the combat areas.
c: Projectile Weaponry -
Guns, bows & arrows, and other high speed or ranged weapons are questionable. Keep in mind that one cannot dodge bullets (or for medieval battles, thrown weapons) all day, either.
d: Blue Magic or "Ability-Mimicry" -
Usable with consent of your opponent. If it allows you to mimic your opponents skills or movements, it counts as the above title. If used without consent, the thread will be closed for Godmodding.
e: Pets, Allies, Summons, or other forms of help -
Generally frowned upon, unless allowed between the two combatants. (Express permission, or each person is controlling more than one character in the thread.) USABLE ONLY WITH CONSENT.
f: Super-Dodging -
No one is forever going to be able to dodge something. If the thread is longer than eight posts (four from each) you character had better take some kind of hit. You don't have to take hits often, but you will have to take them. Don't take just one hit at the start of the fight and dodge everything else, either. That'll just make it boring. Its much more exciting to be considerate of reality, and creates vulnerabilities. Ripe with oppertunity.
g: Bunnying/Autoing -
Again, you may NOT control your opponent's character. You cannot say, for example, that he/she dodged or took the hit. That is up to them, and it keeps things very interesting.
h: Fully Loaded -
No, you cannot load down your character with so many abilities or talents that they're practically invincible. Every character has some weakness. Something they're not good at. They even make mistakes. Avoiding giving your character a mass of super weapons or armor is good, but you shouldn't go overboard with "lesser" weapons either.
II: What, now?
I won't require a whole lot, but there will be a MINIMUM OF FOUR SENTENCES. That keeps the fight going, and gives necessary details. Anyone paying attention to their surroundings and the battle could easily provide a paragraph every post.
III: Rules?
All SoJ Rules apply. If you don't know those, go look.
IV: Fight! Fight! Fight!
You may not interfere with someone's fight. It may seem obvious, but its been known to happen where someone pokes their head in uninvited.
V: Attack Phases
You may have one per turn. An attack phase doesn't necessarily mean just one attack, but you cannot spam them either. Use your phase wisely.
VI: Talk
Keep your OOC to where it isn't as long as your post, that is what the OOC subboard will be for. Its much more enjoyable to read a combat thread that flows, rather than is seemingly at random. Talk to your opponent before or even better yet, while you're writing your posts.
VII: Fandoms
If you fight takes place in an already existing universe, put it in your thread title. All existing rules for that universe must be applied as well, and it is preferred that both combatants know that setting of wherever you're putting it. If you wish to change things, say so in your OOC thread.
