The sun was high in the sky as the violet-haired girl walked towards the park, humming merrily to herself. Her companion, a small, shiny umbreon, padded along with her mistress, content with just being near the bubbly teen. Zorayda, as was the trainer's name, couldn't help but smile to herself at the thought of meeting up with Jack, a boy she'd only recently been dating off and on in their non-serious relationship. He was fun, environmentally aware, and darned cute, and she enjoyed his company thoroughly.
Her hum turned into a full-on song as her boots clicked on the sidewalk, her mood lightening with every step. Today, she wore a sleeveless, v-necked shirt with a belted denim skirt, along with her favorite short cowgirl boots that had little pink embroidered swirls stitched in them. Her favorite silver bracelet's charm jangled merrily as she practically skipped along, finally entering the large park and greeting fellow Pokemon owners along the way.
Finally Zorayda saw the back of her beau's head as he sat upon a park bench, probably admiring the trees or something along those lines. It was just one of those things he had a habit of doing, and Zorayda found it endearing. With a grin, she stopped singing and came to him from behind, tweaking his overworn hat.
"Hey there, cutie," she said in her slight Southern-belle accent, and slid her arms around his neck from behind to rest her chin on his shoulder. He smelled like he usually did, of pine and sunshine. Giving him a quick kiss on the cheek, she let go to come around and sit close to him. "How was your day so far today?" she asked as a way to start conversation. Eeve, the umbreon, jumped up onto her mistress's lap as she usually did and Zorayda began stroking her ears in a way that suggested they'd had years of practice.

Jack had a thoughtful look on his face as he sat, one of his hand-carved, wooden ocarinas in his hands, though for once, he was not playing it, the silver-furred Rattata in his lap looking up at him curiously. "Sorry, Terrim," he whispered quietly. "I know my music soothes you, I guess I'm just...distracted, today."
His ruminations were stopped, however, when he heard a soft voice behind him, before a pair of arms encircled his neck from behind as he recieved a brief kiss on the cheek, making him smile. "Hey, there, Zor," he said happily, giving her a return kiss as she sat down beside him, putting his unused ocarina away as he did, giving his on-and-off girlfriend's Umbreon, Eeve, a quick pat across the head by way of greeting.
"Today's been pretty good," he said softly. "Although there's something I want to ask you," he added, finally reaching where his distraction earlier today had taken him. During their time on and off dating, the two of them had engaged in several friendly Pokemon matches, which so far had always resulted in Jack getting a sound beating. But recently, he had caught a new, sixth Pokemon, one he had been busy training with the rest of his team, and one he hoped would help him. While he was not a serious battler, he would like to beat Zorayda and her prime team one of these days, and maybe today was the day.
"I recently caught a new Pokemon a couple of weeks ago, and while I've been training it, I haven't put it in a battle yet. Do you think we could have a battle today, all six on six? I want to see if I've improved since I last met you," he requested, giving her a small smile. He had been training not only his newest addition, but his entire team, who he gathered were also rather eager to try and get one up over Zorayda. "Of course, if you want to do something else, that's fine, too," he added quickly, hoping she'd agree, anyway...Zor did seem to enjoy a good battle, as did her Pokemon.

Zorayda shared a little affection with Terrim, Jack's silver-backed rattata, and scratched briefly behind her ears. Eeve's soft orange eyes closed briefly in bliss as she received the same attention from Jack, eager to have the focus upon her. Though the umbreon was shy, it didn't mean that she couldn't appreciate a little spoiling now and then. Zorayda's silver eyes caught sight of Jack's ocarina sitting idly in his lap and smiled.
"Playing a little music again today, hmm?" she asked idly. It was another of his little habits that she liked. It showed that he had a passion for a bit of art in life, a sort of outlet for his emotions. She perked up at his mention of a battle, however, almost comically so. She enjoyed practicing and battling with her Pokemon against friendly rivals, and her beau was no exception. Eeve also became a little more animated, though subtly so, unlike her mistress.
"Oh, I'd love to, darlin'! Though you do know I'll stomp you flat, new fancy Pokemon or no," she teased, winking. "Even if I do think you're cute." With that, she tapped the brim of his hat downwards with two fingers, causing it to lower on his head a bit. She giggled and teased his long hair, too, liking the way it always felt when she did.
"Where to this time? The field again?" she was referring to the clearance in the park, a place set for trainers to battle that was kept neat and trimmed to deter wild Pokemon.

Jack managed a small smile as Zor gave Terrim some affection, the silver-backed Rattata clearly happy with this, a blissful, relaxed look on its face as Zor's attention turned to Jack's battle request, clearly interested as she reacted with enthusiasm, teasing him about his poor record against her, Jack chuckling as she messed with his hat and hair, yanking his hat back up as he nudged her shoulder playfully in return.
"Yeah, the field sounds good to me," he said, standing and making a dramatic bow as he moved out of Zor's way. "Ladies first," he said in a mock-posh voice, although his idiotic grin kind of ruined the atmosphere he was trying to comically project, Terrim making a sort of exasperated snorting noise as she jumped onto Jack's shoulder, waiting for the two humans to head to the field, eager to battle underneath her calm exterior.
"So..." Jack asked. "You first, or me?" he asked, noticing that few surrounding Trainers seemed to have overheard their conversation, already beginning to whisper to anyone nearby, spreading work that a battle was about to take place. Looks like they were going to have an audience.

The silver-eyed girl put her hand to her lips and giggled as Jack teased her, taking his arm grandly with a silly grin of her own. "Why, sir, how very kind," she answered. She also noted that a few other park-goers and their Pokemon were curiously edging towards them and her smile became wider. She was such a sucker for attention.
"Well, ladies first, right?" she answered to Jack's question of who was to go first, silver eyes sparkling. Recalling Eeve into her Dusk Ball, she took the time to tie her long, violet hair back into a ponytail, a sign that she took her battles seriously despite her constant silly demeanor. She reached down for her first pokemon, her innocent smile turning into an excited and determined grin.
"C'mon, Dax!" she shouted, releasing the delcatty from his blue and red ball. The cat appeared, blinking lazily. He'd probably been asleep, as usual. He turned and saw Jack, taking a moment to look at Zorayda in a way that clearly said, 'Him again?'. But Dax took on a fighting stance all the same, looking bored and resigned to battle.

Jack smiled as Zor proclaimed herself first, looking around as a crowd started to gather...this was certainly going to be interesting, he thought as he recalled Terrim into her Premier Ball, his hand settling on the six Balls at his belt, waiting for Zorayda to choose her first Pokemon.
He merely raised an eyebrow, however, when her first Pokemon turned out to be Dax...her usual choice. She seemed to be getting predictable, a trait that would certainly help in his efforts to hopefully secure his first victory against her.
"Alright, let's see what we can do, Levis!" he cried, grabbing a Quick Ball and hurling it out over the grassy battlefield, a bright flash as the ball opened revealing a sleek, graceful-looking Pidgeot, which hovered over the field, crowing her readiness for battle. "Alright, Levis, Tailwind! Then give Dax a Twister!" he cried, Levis starting up the battle as she summoned a strange gust of wind that seemed to constantly blow behind her, giving her flight a speed boost as she swung around, flapping her wings wildly as she summoned a draconic whirlwind around Dax, trying to unsettle him and get an early edge in the first round of the battle.

'Levis, hmm? Well, we'll see how ol' Dax fares...' Zorayda thought as Jack's pretty bird Pokemon appeared. The first orders didn't surprise her too much, and, judging from Dax's unmoving bored features, it didn't jerk his chain either.
"Dax, go after her with Double Edge!" Zorayda called, hoping to startle the bird into moving and cancelling her own Twister. The cat complied, taking on a little bit of damage from the dragonic winds as he used one of his strongest attacks right off the bat. Jack knew a lot of her defensive-type strategies already, so she hoped to catch him and his pidgeot off-guard with an immediate countering attack.
(so short >.<)

Jack grimaced as Zor called for Dax to go after LEvis with a Double-Edge...that could hurt her, badly. "Levis, move! Then counter with Sand-Attack!" he cried, hoping Levis could dodge...her defenses weren't exactly the best.
But Levis' speed an agility seemed to be in good form today, Levis cancelling the Twister before it could really get wound up, performing a rather daring low-altitude barrel-roll, narrowly avoiding Dax's reckless charging attack, before turning around, using a wing to spray sand at Dax's muzzle.
Many people and Pokemon alike considered Sand-Attack a rather dirty trick used mostly by beginner Trainers still trying to take every advantage they can get, but neither Jack nor Levis really put much stock in that. It was an officially recognised tactic, and legal under official rules. Jack would always fight fairly...but wasn't afraid to fight a little dirty if necesarry.

Dax grimaced slightly as his reckless charge towards the giant bird caused himself damage, quickly whipping around as sand was shot forth by the pidgeot. Knowing that Dax couldn't dodge it, Zorayda put a hand on her hip and pointed with the other hand, shouting at the delcatty.
"Ice beam, now!" She called, and Dax complied with the laser-like charge of pure ice energy shot straight towards Levis. The attack took a lot out of Dax concentration-wise, and did not move out of place as the beam shot straight towards the bird. In the meantime, the ice also froze many flecks of sand and turned them against Levis, making them tiny icicles as they zoomed forth to pepper the opponent. However, Dax also took a lot of the sand to the face, and it cut the remainder of the Ice Beam attack short. Dax snorted and pawed at his face in earnest, trying to rid himself of the irritating granules of sand...
"Focus, Dax! Sing, now!" Zorayda shouted, cutting through to the cat's hearing. His aim was slightly modified against the fast bird, however, so though he sang with an intensely calming sound, it was unsure whether or not the noise would be directly in contact with Levis...

"Levis, move!" Jack yelled as he saw Dax's Ice Beam take shape, intercepting some of the Sand-Attack, weakening itself in the process as it turned a few sand grains into ice shards that shot back at Levis...typical of Zor's battle tactics, really, Jack knew that she had a knack for turning his own attacks against his team...that was made her so difficult to battle.
Levis for her part, tried to get away from the Ice attack, knowing it was bad for her. But she had been caught off-guard, and gave an agonised screech as the beam slammed into her, the icy sand grains also peppering her wings, giving the weakened attack some of its old potency back. The Pidgeot whirled into the air, momentarily out of control, but managed to steady her flight once more, although she did look worse for wear.
Jack had no time to ask if she was okay, though, as Zorayda attempted to capitalise on her advantage, calling for Dax to Sing Levis to sleep. "Levis, Gust! Don't let yourself hear that song!" he cried, hoping Levis would get away from it...he didn't want to lose a Pokemon so early on.
Levis managed to recover from Dax's Ice Beam, obeying Jack's command promptly, whirling up a huge gust of wind around herself. Rather than flinging the mini-whirlwind at Dax, though, she let the raging winds howl around her, effectively drowning out Dax's song...for the most part. she did end up hearing a few notes of the calming lullaby, and they had clearly had an effect, as she seemed to sway precariously in the air...it wasn't enough to put her to sleep, but she seemed to be rather drowzy now.
"Come on, Levis, focus!" he called, managing to get Levis' wits back enough so that she could resume fighting, now flinging the Gust at Dax once his song was over. "Good, now don't give Dax another chance...Sky Attack, let's go!" Levis nodded, flapping her wings hard as she climbed up into the air, deliberely angling her climb so that Dax would have the sun in his eyes should be try and watch her movements.
