This is a poem I wrote specifically for this place.
Returning to Ruins
Do you remember
when this bundle of stones
was thriving and active?
I felt like part of a family
connected by optic fibres
and signals across the Earth.
Yet now, everyone's growing
and each is following their own path
ripe with struggles, fears and aspirations.
It feels bizarre
to grow up and expand
away from what you cherish.
Where did everyone go?
To live better lives, out there?
Because I miss them all... I don't want to change.
I want to be happy
and when was I happy?
Right here... right now... amongst my closest friends.
Do you have
to go and leave me
here in this emptiness?
...I thought so.
I'll be waiting here,
crying away my smiles.
