~ Shadows of Johto ~
Shadow Lugia is once again on the rise, darkness beckoning at the entire region. However, it is not just the creatures of myth and legend that are plagued with this – An aura now known as Shroud is slowly laying claim to the area, taking the same affect as what happened in Orre. Closing the hearts of any pokemon that remains in contact of it too long, making them unpredictable and vicious.
It has also been confirmed that not only is the former Team Rocket involved, but their mannerisms and ideas have only heightened. Giovanni is now working with the disbanded Cipher, and offer proof of their companionship, by renaming a large branch their syndicate “Kali”. Dubbing it after the fabled Goddess of Destruction. Whilst there are still Rockets and Ciphers alike, the Kali section makes up half of each. Which are now known as ‘whispers of darkness’.
However, that is not to say that there are no ways to remedy the bane that is being caused. Small groups of trainers and researchers alike have gathered, others even traveling from region to region to offer assistance. The newest technology advance is vastly helping with their efforts: The Pure Ball, a specially developed storage sphere that radiates positive energy and aura, was recently formed. To work the Pure Ball, though, one must have an accompanying Activation Glove.
Even so, the situation is bleak. The trainer and researcher organization is vastly outnumbered, out financed, and almost at edge with one another in frustration. Hope only runs so thick. Ties are made, and then cut. No one needs to say that blood is thicker than water, or that things are tense. Perhaps even over their heads. But, as more foreign trainers begin arriving, some hope is rekindled. Motivation for their cause is revived.
Now, the Kali and unnamed organization are at odds once again. A war of wills has ensued. Whom will win, is uncertain.
~ Other Information (Relating to the Plot) ~
Because of the new perils that have taken place in the past two years, trainers are required to be thirteen years of age before they are allowed to begin their journey. Any younger, and officials believe that they should not be out adventuring and be at risk what with the Shroud-contaminated pokemon. Said pokemon, as vicious as they are, will attack unprovoked and cannot be used in battle without self risk. Normal trainers should not risk trying to capture them, much less apply anywhere other than inside their pokeball.
Only the Pure Ball & Activation Glove combination can succeed in reopening their hearts to emotion, and not just anyone can obtain them. Said pair can be obtained from a select few people, such as Professor Elm or Bill (The pokemon maniac). They’re always welcoming to new recruits, as numbers are in dire need at the moment. Also, if the Professor has extra pokemon on hand, and the recruit proves exceptional in some form or another, they are allowed to choose one.

Eventually, though, the organization will be setting their sights on purifying the Shadow Lugia’s heart and releasing it from captivity. Thusly, strong bonds between teammates – Human and pokemon alike – would be highly advised if one wishes to make it out in one piece.
