Name: Kaine Dul'Goldon
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Hometown: The Under, Orre
Appearance:
Kaine Dul'Goldron measures in at about six feet, two inches tall without his boots. He has a muscular, yet skinny, frame and weighs in averaging 175 pounds. He wears his long, crimson hair down as it naturally parts in the middle. The tips of his hair reach to about the middle of his back, and his hair is very straight. His eyes are the same color as his hair, giving his gaze a piercing quality that unnerves most caught underneath it. His face is lean and somewhat gaunt, and he has dark rings and wrinkles under his eyes, making him look much older than he is. His nose is average length, tapering down to a point, and his chin juts out a little, giving his face an even more jagged appearance.
As he spent most of his childhood underground, his skin is very pale, and very sensitive to the sun's harsh rays. If he is exposed to the sun for longer than a couple hours, his skin begins to turn red and burn quickly. Because of this, he favors dark, long-flowing clothes. He traditionally wears a dark blue trench coat with many pockets over his clothes. He also favors well-fitting but baggy denim pants. His black boots give his feet the protection they need in any environment, and they are completely waterproof. Kaine also wears a black-and-white pinstriped fedora. When he wears the fedora and has the collar of his trench coat close around his neck, he creates a very imposing image, especially if you can see his eyes.
Personality:
Kaine is a very meticulous man. Taught from a very young age just how rough the streets are if you act recklessly, he takes his time in a situation, carefully gauging every move anyone in his surroundings makes. He does not rush into things quickly, yet he cannot turn away when he sees someone in trouble. He is patient to a point, but if his wrath is incurred, there are very few who can calm him. Once he is roused to wrath, his persona changes completely. He becomes very rude and brusque, and very
inconsiderate of others. He retains his ability to analyze the situation, though it happens much quicker, with devastation his usual result.
When he is not angry, however, he is very quiet. Meticulous as he is, he talks little. He makes his opinions known, but he generally does so through his actions rather than his speech. To him, words can muck up the air, and take away time necessary to complete the task at hand. His work ethic and sense of
right and wrong are very strong.
Kaine is also incredibly independent, almost violently so. He has been on his own from a very young age, so he knows how to take care of himself and his Pokémon. He will accept charity without complaint, but will do his best to repay anything given to him, even if it was not asked for.
Kaine does not trust easily. You must show him that you truly are who you say you are, and that your motives are clear. If you turn out to be lying, Kaine will become a very bitter, very powerful enemy.
Kaine is also a very experienced Pokémon trainer. He has trained and battled in Orre for 6 years before coming to Johto, so he knows many things about Pokémon and battling that others do not.
Biography:
From the time he was born, Kaine’s life was a difficult task. He was born to unknown parents in the slums of The Under, beneath Pyrite in Orre. His father, he never knew. His mother was homeless, living on the streets until her death when Kaine was five. She had become gravely ill with the flu and her fever consumed her. On his own since then, Kaine learned very quickly how to fend for himself, whether it was through trickery and thievery, or honest hard work.
When Kaine was about thirteen years of age, he was starting to head downhill. He had taken to thievery more often than anything else as a means to survive, and he was beginning to really enjoy it. One afternoon, as he was following a Pokémon trainer in hopes of snatching a Pokémon from him to enter the colosseum match, he heard of some odd goings-on in the outside world of Orre. Some sort of criminal syndicate was stealing Pokémon from their trainers and artificially closing the door to the hearts of the Pokémon, to later give them to powerful, heartless trainers to further their overarching plans. Kaine thought little on it, as matters concerning Pokémon meant little to him…unless he could get his hands on one.
A new trainer surfaced in The Under at this time. A dashing figure he was, with very powerful Pokémon as his disposal. He ran rampant throughout The Under and cut a swath through the powerful Cipher trainers there, liberating The Under from their oppression. Kaine was begging in the streets one afternoon when he saw the trainer walking his way. Kaine stood straight and looked the trainer in the eyes. The trainer said nothing; he just smiled and put a small ball into Kaine’s hand. As the trainer walked away, Kaine opened his hands to see a pokeball. He quickly ran to a nearby alleyway and opened the pokeball. Blinding light flashed in the alley, and Kaine shielded his eyes. When he opened them again, he saw a small Abra sitting on the ground staring at him. Their eyes met, and Kaine heard a small, but deep voice in his head.
“I am Abra,” it spoke softly. “My former carrier saw how you greatly desired a Pokémon companion and asked if I would be willing. I consented and here I am. Please, give me a new name, something strong and proud. I will be there with you throughout any trials you may face.”
Tears came to Kaine’s eyes and he gave the Abra the nickname Khan, meaning “respected leader”.
From then on, Kaine worked tirelessly alongside Khan to become the greatest trainer Orre had ever known. Long gone were the days of his childish thievery and begging. As he and Khan worked together, they won many colosseum challenges and gained quite a reputation. He traveled all across Orre to train and battle other trainers in colosseum matches and at Mt. Battle.
Kaine and Khan were nigh inseparable. As they battled, Khan grew and evolved into a Kadabra, and eventually, through a trade arrangement with another trainer, an Alakazam. Khan was also incredibly valuable to Kaine as an advisor and friend. They discovered that no matter what distance separated them, they could always converse via telepathy.
Over the years, Kaine acquired and met many new Pokémon, and they all became cherished friends and allies. When Kaine was 18, Cipher struck Orre again, with more powerful Pokémon, called Shadow Pokémon, Kaine later learned. He did what he could to help the boy bringing down Cipher, but maintained a low profile for that adventure. He still focused more on honing his skills.
After Cipher was once again brought down, Kaine competed in his final colosseum matches. He had gained notoriety as one of the best trainers ever to exist in Orre. He bought an apartment in Phenac City and rested for six months, before longing to visit other lands. He recently returned to Phenac City after a long journey across Kanto.
Now, he has set his sights on Johto, a realm where myth and legend are present in everyday life.
