The young woman also cast a skeptic glance at the professor, startled that he had all but decided for Kaine. While she didn't mind learning from more experienced people, Kaine hadn't even answered yet. Selina glanced over at the crimson donned trainer, quirking a brow slightly. "... Is it all right with you?" she inquired quietly, rubbing behind Koun's ears as she knelt between her vulpine and canine pokemon. Her gaze flicked towards the brunette when she spoke again, though offering a nod of acknowledgment.
"Well, that may help. I don't know an overly lot about the purification process, as not much of the research made it to Hoenn, but we'll see what we can do. If it's possible, though, I'd like to be able to look at what you have later. Any bit of knowledge would help, after all," Selina pointed out, a small smile touching her lips when a feline purr started to emit from her mutant-prone fennec. Eva was always proving interesting, having mainly fox, but both canine and feline leanings at times. Either way, the yearling was loved unconditionally by all of them. "What do you say, Eva? Would you like to try?" she murmured, stroking the fennec pokemon's silky umber pelt.
The eevee's atypical azure eyes were clearly brimming with assurance as she nodded, tail swishing to and fro. "Eev," she responded, inclining her head towards Amethyst now. Koun bristled protectively, about to step in front of his adoptive daughter until Selina shook her head. His crimson gaze bore into her amber one curiously, as if wondering why she was allowing it.
"If need be, I shall step in. No need to worry yourself, Koun," Leta assured him, moving to the floor next to the dark wolf as she spoke. "We're ready if you are."

Kaine chuckled. “Well, I guess my role has been decided for me. I would have agreed regardless, but still…” Kaine chuckled a bit more.
“That is what happens when you get lazy, Kaine. Regardless of whether you would have decided that way or not, the choice is made for you.” He could picture Khan shaking his head perfectly.
“It also makes my life a little easier, and I don’t have to speak as much.” He heard Khan give another mental snort and reached into his trench coat to pull out Gryphonn’s pokéball. “Gryphonn, return.” Gryphonn squealed and returned without a fuss. Kaine inspected the amount of pokéballs he had at his disposal and stood, turning towards the two girls.
“Now, before I take you out there for training, how much battling experience do each of you have? I need to know what we’ll have to work with before I risk our necks.”

"Enough to capture this menace," Amethyst said, letting the shroud Eevee out of his ball.
He growled and bristled, eyes darting to every pokemon in the room. He glare at the humans the longest, distrust obviously reigning supreme in his mind.
"Well, progress has been made, he isn't trying to run," Amethyst said, wishing she could pull the words back as soon as the left her mouth.
Because, at that moment, the Eevee did indeed try to run. Right under Amethyst's legs.
Amethyst dove, just missing grabbing him as he raced for the door.

Kaine's eyes narrowed as soon as the Eevee was released. He focused only on the Eevee. He saw it dash away and head for the door. He instantly leapt for the door and grabbed the rogue Eevee by the scruff of its neck. It struggled immensely, but Kaine was able to hold it. He carried it back to Amethyst.
"Here," he spoke softly. "Catching this one must have been a challenge. However, I assure you, this one will be quite easy to tame compared to what else they've tainted. I witnessed the Shadow Lugia in Orre..." Kaine shook his head and shuddered slightly as he remembered.
"Regardless, it's good to know you have some experience, Amethyst. Selina, how about you?"

The young woman motioned to her pokemon companions as soon as the 'demon eevee' appeared, expecting it to act out. None of them expected it to go underneath the humans it detested so acutely, though. Selina's brow arched when Kaine managed to recapture it so easily, carrying the struggling fennec pokemon back by the scruff of it's neck. Eva tilted her head, twitching an ear. "Eev, eevee," the dainty female said softly, barely audible to the human years. Her fluffy tail swished ever so slightly across the tiled floor as she watched, patiently waiting for Kaine or Amethyst to put him down again.
Selina's amber gaze focused on the crimson donned trainer when he spoke to her, before it fell to the floor. "Well ... I've done a few battles here and there, but I haven't had to capture my team by force. I am fairly good at strategies, though. Consider it as book knowledge, common sense, and experimentation combined in some training and then a few real battles," the young woman summarized, tapping her shoe against the floor as she talked. Needless to say, she was less than experienced in comparison to either. At least it seemed so to her.

Kaine nodded. "That's fine, Selina. Some experience here and there in addition to book smarts is more than I had hoped for when the professor asked for my help in this matter. I'll want to demonstrate how to effectively catch non-Shroud Pokémon first though, so you'll have a general idea how to approach every encounter." Kaine made sure Amethyst had the Eevee and walked around a little bit to face both the girls.
"Shroud Pokémon, or the shadow Pokémon from Orre, are essentially no different from your standard wild Pokémon. Yes, they have augmented power, and yes, the doors to their hearts have been artificially closed, but even still, you should treat the encounter the same. I can explain more once we're out in the field." Kaine scratched his head and asked, "I'm unfamiliar with all the Pokémon from the Johto region; are there any Flying or Dark type Pokémon near here?"

Amethyst struggled to hold the Eevee. She didn't set him down, no, he lept from her arms and happened to land in the sink, which for some reason was full of water.
He climbed out, dripping on the counter before shaking it off, making his fur all poofy. He sat there and glared at Kaine, who ruined his escape before deciding the water felt good and jumping back in the sink.
"That, that right there, has to be the single most random thing I've ever seen. I've never seen a pokemon jump in a sink," Amethyst said, looking a cross between amused and weirded out.
The Eevee glared at the room over the edge of the sink, maybe trying to look menacing, but looking cute instead.

Selina audibly chuckled at the sight, before setting Eva on the edge of the sink and stepping back. It was obvious Eva wanted to try to get through to the 'demon eevee', whom currently was just looking like a soaked cuddle-bug, and they were at least still within range to intervene if needed. "If it makes you feel better, I've only seen Eva do it once before when she first hatched." The small smile playing about her lips made it clear she was equally amused, though, at the sight in front of them. It looked as if his efforts to be terrifying were backfiring.
Eva leaned over the edge and sniffed at the now wet Shroud Pokemon, before giving him a fennec smile and lightly tapping him with a forepaw to get his attention. "Vee!" the feminine eevee said, clearly extending a paw in greeting.
She glanced over at Kaine momentarily, before resuming her watch on the two eevees. "Well, I'm actually from Hoenn, but our Safari Zone had a dark-flying type called Murkrow that comes from Johto. It's nocturnal, as naturally assumed," she said offhandedly, though in attempt to be helpful to him. "What have you in mind?"

The wet Eevee glared at the paw and just let himself sink under the water, swimming in a circle also sullenly.
Amethyst leaned over to water him, jerking back when a stream of water shot out of the sink. "He spit water at me!" she said, sounding offended.
The Eevee was, indeed, spitting a stream of water from his mouth. It ran out rather quickly, though. He was not a happy Eevee.

Kaine laughed at the shroud pokemon as he tried to maintain his menacing glare. He could see the pokemon was already starting to soften a little. Kaine looked over to Selina when she spoke.
"Murkrow, you say? Hm. I'm familiar with them, though I wasn't aware they were native to this region. I'd like to catch one, tonight. Shall we use that as our first example?"
