“OMG, did you hear? We have new students?” Leslie Jacobs ran up to Rini Warren, who was in the middle of talking to Kyle Jackson and Stephen Evans. The dark haired girl raised her eyebrows and gave her blonde roommate a long look. “Oh great, new annoying mortals.” Stephen scoffed. The black haired teen with the bright blue highlights didn’t really like mortals ever since super religious mortals had almost burned him at the stake. To the mortal’s defense, they had gone back in time to the witch trials, but that didn’t change Stephen’s view of the events. Rini looked at Leslie and asked, “So, do you know who they are?” The green-eyed girl asked her best friend. Leslie shook her head. “No, I don’t. Cameron I think is trying to figure out so he can go flirt with them…” The blonde asked. Kyle Jackson laughed and shook his head. “Will Cameron ever learn?” The junior in high school asked his three friends. Stephen shook his head, his dark hair falling into his eyes.
“Nope, I seriously doubt it. He might though. I learned to stop trying to take over the world every other week.” The witch with the powers of shadows and darkness comment. Kyle laughed and nodded his agreement. “That’s certainly true, Stephen. That’s certainly true. Although, I bet Rini taking your powers every time you tried helped make you stop, also.” The witch with the power of extreme persuasion grinned. Rini grinned sheepishly. “Guys!” Cameron Madden ran over and skidded to a stop in front of his four friends. The dark blonde, green eyed seventeen year old was grinning and said, ” The new kids are coming this way!"

Serenity's jade gaze was near murderous as she glanced at the dark haired vampire following off at an angle, shouldering her satchel irritably. Gabriel had been quick to assume himself her personal bodyguard, more so from the accidental crossing of the Threshold. An alternate reality, he had called it. Supposedly having not even been heard of in five hundred years. But the pervert's supposedly chivalrous actions were in vain, when she hunted his kind. And was quite good at it.
But she - grudgingly - had to admit his suggestion to blend with this reality, until they could return to where they belonged, was at least well placed. The young woman combed her fingers through her long wheat colored waves as a cool breeze blew along the brick walkway of the open courtyard, vivid green eyes taking in her surroundings. Strategic. Not missing a detail. And still quite aware of the dark haired man's sapphire gaze.

Stephen’s golden-red gaze flickered around searching out new faces. His gaze locked on a girl with long blonde hair, and bright green eyes, though not as bright as Rini’s… At her side was a dark haired teenager that looked around seventeen. He had bright blue eyes and Stephen felt a certain darkness around him that made him wary. Stephen frowned and tried to pinpoint the source of his unease, but nothing came to mind, only a sense of a distant darkness and another time…. The dark haired witch wasn’t scared of darkness, or night. His powers were sourced from it, and he had always felt comfortable in it. But, something was off. Stephen frowned and took a deep breath. Muttering a spell under his breath, he flicked his fingers towards the dark haired teenager and his companion. A dark shadow formed around the pair, and disappeared. If they were witches, this would reveal it. The shadow would reapear if they were witches. Instead, in the shadows place was a bright white light around the girl and a dark as night presence around the boy. …If they weren’t witches, what where they?

(OOC: Hehe, how does a killer mage and vampire ride with this school? They come from a bit darker of a story, so ... Neither are unfamiliar with death. Serenity is only 18, but she's killed quite a few vampires.)
Serenity's jade gaze flicked towards the source of spent energy, feeling it. Her caste easily recognizing the feel of any base magic, as well as the soft probing. The energy-based magus pausing momentarily, regarding the other dark haired man coolly. Far from intimidated, clearly enough. Standoffish.
However, it was also clear that Gabriel was unconcerned. The dark haired vampire was leaning against the tree they had stopped by, casually tossing and catching a rock as he waited. Observing the others casually, though far from missing out on the magical essences. Nearly as in tune as the hunter before him. Though one thing was perfectly clear - There was a blaze of power beneath his dark eyes, making his presence foreboding.

Rini glanced over at Stephen. Her dark haired best friend looked unnerved, which wasn’t normal. Stephen was fearless. He was the one during a crisis, could remain coldly critical and think of a plan within minutes. Stephen was serious and cocky and the most mature of the five of them. He wasn’t as mean as he was when he was evil, but he was still very bad tempered and would speak before thinking. Rini glanced at the two new students and a shiver went down her spine. Something about the blonde girl reminded her horribly of the witch hunters. “Rini, what’s wrong?” Kyle asked, his bright blue eyes worried. The bright green-eyed girl shrugged. “I’m really not sure Kyle.” She told the brunette boy, glancing once more at the blonde girl and the dark haired boy. “You sense it also?” Leslie murmured. Cameron was also looking on edge. The five witches were the most powerful of the age, and the last magick users of their bloodlines. Their very blood was instilled with the fear of witch hunters, and Rini couldn’t help but think this blonde girl and her companion might be some.
“With these words, I call to me, bind the powers of these humans be. So, I ask it, so mote it be.” Rini murmured and she heard her fellow witches and best friends murmur their own “So mote it be’s.”

Though outwardly bored, Gabriel noticed a slight terseness ripple through Serenity's lithe frame. A reaction towards what she perceived as an attempted threat. But judging from her facade, coolly observant, it had failed. But knowing the energy-mage was not one to take slack off of anyone, he did not doubt the possibility of her fixing to meet them. Pushing himself away from the tree, he lightly touched a hand to the young woman's shoulder. "... Introduce yourself if you must. But it would not be wise to draw attention to us, in this reality. Not unless we must," he said softly, barely audible.
A soft chuckle was audible in response. "I am not stupid ... But one must admit that it is rude, to attempt sealing anther's magic at first glance," she returned coolly, holding the other girl's gaze. Shrugging off Gabriel's hand after a moment, stepping towards them. Her stance was nonthreatening, but he knew that were things to turn ugly, she could handle herself.

Rini, the girl is coming over here!” Cameron hissed. Rini’s head snapped up, and sure enough she was. “Oh no. She must have sensed we tried to bind her and her little boyfriends powers!” Stephen said, the seventeen-year-old looking mildly concerned. Leslie stepped closer to Kyle, and Rini saw Stephen flick his wrist, and the shadows around seemed to solidify before turning invisible. Rini wasn’t sure how long Stephen’s shield could last or how much power it withstand, but she felt a little bit better knowing that at least something stood in the way of them and this girl with the powers Rini couldn’t bind. Never before had this happened to the green-eyed witch. Never. “Don’t worry. We’re the most powerful magick users in our families and the most powerful witches of the age. We’ll be just fine. If she’s a witch, cool. Maybe a new friend. If she’s a witch hunter or demon, we deal with that too.” Cameron said, putting his arms around Rini comfortingly. Stephen’s eyes were cold and calculating, already thinking up a plan should they need one, Rini guessed. The bright gold/blue/red color seemed to harden and he looked serious.

Gabriel couldn't help but laugh at the comment of him being Serenity's 'boyfriend', finding the mage's would-be reaction - if she had heard it - amusing. Listening to them as they debated between one another, though before moving to join Serenity. "Not exactly the most enticing greeting we have ever received, but not the worst either," he commented idly, vague boredom hanging about his tone.
"Perhaps. Though I would think that another mage knows they cannot seal pure energy," Serenity returned softly, holding the other girl's green eye gaze. The shield itself was an interesting thing to note, being not of usual material, but it clearly said everything they were not. They were intimidated. Scared. And yet, she had done naught. It seemed they were very flighty indeed.

Kyle chuckled. “She thinks we’re scared.” He noted, reading her emotions. Rini whimpered slightly. “Aren’t we?” She asked. Stephen sighed and walked in front of her, letting down the shield as he did so. He was Stephen William Evans. He wasn’t scared of anything… “Rachel Elizabeth Warren, listen to me.” He spoke quietly. “Why are you so scared? Rini, you’re the bravest person I’ve ever met. You weren’t scared when you and I were about to be burned last year. You weren’t scared when you almost drowned…and you weren’t scared when you faced me down in the cemetery freshman year. Why are you now?” He wanted to know. Rini shrugged. “I don’t know…” She said. The hazel-eyed boy grinned. “Well, figure it out and quick. The only things to fear is fear itself and were not in danger. Do you think I would have let down the shield if that was the case?” He snickered.

Serenity stopped short of the group, waiting for them to finish their conversation. Making no effort to butt into it, but instead simply quiet. Adjusting her grip on the satchel that held her only physical weapon, though her thoughts briefly wandered back to the attempted seal. The magic had a very different feel than what they were accustomed to. On the same level of power, but with an entirely different base. Odd ... So their magic did not come from excess life energy in their blood?
Something to keep in mind, then. The young woman shifted her weight after a moment as they finished, before inclining her head towards them. "... You offer a rather cold greeting," she stated simply, clearly referring to the attempt at stamping out her natural ability.
