Thump. Rini Warren grinned as she walked over to the target, pulling out her arrow with slight effort. The sixteen-year-old witch was one of the few students currently at Warren Hall, even though Josh Henderson was supposed to be back tomorrow. Walking back to her spot ten feet away, she notched the same arrow, preparing to let it fly when all the lights that surrounded the range suddenly burned out, pitching the girl into darkness. “What on earth?” She asked herself glancing around. She seemed to be alone…

But Rachel was not alone. In the shadows lied a hunter, one who had been stalking the grounds for some time. Sable Moon had traveled quite a distance in search of prey. Her castle was devoid of visitors, leaving her no choice but to seek out prey herself. Unfortunately, the school she happened upon was devoid of life. They were having some sort of vacation. Sable waited for weeks in order to meet a lost student. Even her minions had come up with nothing. After some time, she found a lone archer practicing in the dark of night, with no one else around.
Sable watched Rachel from the dark, a scowl on her face. A treacherous female: not what she was hoping for. However, this girl was quite young in appearance. Youth tended to mean inexperience. A perfect target. Though she was hungry, the vampire wasn’t about to pass up a chance to play with her food. With a simple spell, Sable had sent the athletic field into darkness and walked towards Rachel.
“Well well, what do we have here?” Sable asked in her thick Translyvanian accent, “A lost lamb. A lost lamb without a shepherd to guide her out of the darkness.”
As she came closer, the faint moonlight revealed her figure coming out of the cloak of darkness. The vampire was in the form of a young woman, her thick robe covering most of her features. She walked calmly towards Rachel with hunger in her eyes.

Rini scowled. “A lamb? Pah. No. I’m a witch of the Warren line! Who the heck are you?” She snapped, narrowing her green eyes. Something was telling her that she was in the wrong place at the very wrong time. “Plus, I don’t need a shepherd to guide me anywhere. Now, what are you? Are you a demon? Stephen told me some demons can be almost pretty,” Rini spat the insult. She glanced around, hoping that Josh or one of the others would magically show up… NO! I can’t handle this myself, Rini thought firmly.

Sable hissed at the insult, baring her long fangs to the girl. She would not take jabs at her beauty lightly, especially from another female.
“So the little schoolgirl thinks she can handle this all by herself?” Sable replied back. “Perhaps she should stop looking around for someone to save her. You are alone, witch of Warren Hall. It’s time to see whether you fit your claim, or if you’re just another helpless princess waiting for a knight in shining armor to rescue her.”
With that, she backed away into the darkness, cackling as she disappeared. For a few seconds, nothing happened. Then something came running across the field. This was a four-legged creature, but one that would be familiar: a wolf. This canine however was different from its normal relative. No life flowed through its veins. It was simply a soulless being doing the bidding of its master.
“Can your magic match mine?” Sable’s voice rang through the darkness, though this time it came from the bleachers. As she spoke, the wolf charged towards Rachel, fangs baring towards her right arm.

Seeing the wolf come toward her, Rini quickly let the arrow fly straight towards it. Jumping up onto a bench, Rini sneered at the girl. “How’d you know what I was thinking? Kyle said it was nearly impossible to get a real read on thoughts and Josh and Leslie agreed…no matter. If you can read my thoughts, you know what I’m capable of, even though I really don’t wanna fight…” Rini quickly notched another arrow. She couldn't see the other girl at all....where was she?! "Why did I have to give Stephen his powers back? They would be so useful right now..."
Rini took a deep breath, calming herself. "Um, hello? Demon girl?" The green eyed girl looked around the giant room, hoping to see something... "Can I ask a couple of questions?"

The arrow struck the wolf in the shoulder. Though this made the canine a bit slower, it also made it angry. The wolf recommenced its charge towards Rachel, this time attempting to bite down on her left leg. The canine darted to the left to avoid the second arrow as he made a desperate dive towards its target.
During all of this, Sable still managed to speak to the witch. She was safe within the pitch darkness, in visible as she sat upon the top row of bleachers
“Silly child! I do not engage in such parlor tricks!” Sable replied. “You are a typical child, looking around the bleachers for Mummy or Daddy or anyone else to help you. You are not the first child I have fed upon.”
As the battle continued, Rachel had a strange request (at least to Sable).
“Questions?! This is no classroom, child!”

Rini smirked. "Well....at least Vivian, she was a REALLY powerful ghost, had the decency to tell me who she was and all that." She taunted.
Rini's blood boiled when the girl called her magic parlor tricks. "Okay. Fine. You wanna play with fire? I'll give you fire," Rini promised, muttering the spell for flame and shooting it off into the hay bales that lined the room. She could hear the horses in the other room whinny, and she frowned, hoping the fight could be stopped before they became too nervous. Flames flared up, casting shadowy light on the scene. The young witch grinned and looked around. "And my mom and dad aren't gonna save me. They didn't save Katie, and they won't save me. I can take care of myself,"
Rini glanced around the room. Where was the wolf? She glanced down just in time to see the wolf lunge for her left leg. She jumped to the side, hitting the ground, the wolf still tearing into her leg. Rini managed to get to her feet, looking at her injury. It wasn't that bad, she noted. But, she still had bigger issues to deal with.

Sable simply moved a couple bleachers down, now completely visible amongst the flames. She didn’t seem terribly alarmed at the development.
“Ah, so you can light a match?” Sable met Rachel’s taunt with her own, belittling the witch’s powers “Very well…”
With a simple smile, a viscous dark material poured out of her hands. The dark energy gathered onto the field and began forming a figure clad in armor. In just seconds, a black knight in heavy armor began walking towards Rini, drawing his two-handed broadsword. During all of this, the wolf continued to gnaw on the witch’s leg, its sharp fangs digging into her flesh. The canine attempted to pull her down to the ground, even as the clanking of armor became louder and faster as the summoned warrior approached. The knight slashed his sword vertically towards Rini.
“If you can handle these two, then perhaps you are worth my time.”

Rini glared at the wolf, sending a roundhouse kick into the canine. Breaking away from it's hold, she quickly saw she had bigger issues to deal with than one bad tempered mutt. "Oh, yes. Let's send one of the knights that say nigh after me," she said sarcastically, reminding herself of Stephen. She started to say something when the 'knight that said nigh,' as she so called it slashed towards her. Rini somehow managed to dodge the sword and quickly stood up, glancing at the warrior. "Hmm..." She pursed her lips, quickly looking around her her bow. She saw it lying on the ground and lunged for it, diving into a roll. The young witch quickly shot a few arrows towards the dark knight and then glanced towards the fire...Rini had a idea.

The wolf backed off a bit after being kicked off of Rini's leg. With an arrow through its shoulder, there wasn't much more the canine could do. The knight finished the wolf off with a single slash, beheading the beast as he continued towards Rini.
Arrows bounced off the knight's chestplate. Being built to withstand physical assaults, the armored foe continued his attack. He slashed horizontally at Rini's torso as she was gazing towards the fire. Demonic grunts followed his strikes, as if he were in a tennis match. An evil tennis match.
"One down, one to go," Sable jested. "Don't get too roughed up; I would hate for my meal to be spoiled."
