"Quickly, move!" Selena suddenly cut in, shoving Derrick out of the way as she swept her leg out, leaning at the same time. A bloodied main-gauche tore through the air mere inches away from her throat, the assassin rolling this time into a kneeling position.
"You are better than they gave you credit, I will admit. Why did you suddenly improve, might I ask?" he drawled conversationally, a slight smirk touching his lips.
"... I do not know what you speak of," the young woman returned levelly, glaring daggers at him.
"Oh, really? This was an intriguing turn of events ..." he added casually, smiling openly now. "Perhaps I can give you a little more time, then."

Dark Link snatched up his sword. "You'll leave if you know what's good for you. Because if you remain much longer you will remain … always," he said, smirking in the shadows of his hood.

"I'm shaking in my boots," the assassin chuckled, mocking. His crimson gaze briefly settling on Selena once more, before losing all pretense of amusement. "... You, on the other hand ..." he added softly, a small smile beginning to play about his lips. "You will be an interesting addition to our search. And perhaps the one we've been needing," the Shadow said quietly as he pulled his hood up, and turn on his heel to stride into the wood. His essence vanishing not a moment after.

Dark Link growled. Just what he needed. As far as he was concerned, he was the only Shadow Hyrule needed.
"You alright?" he asked, looking at Selena. She seemed fine, but one never knew.

The young woman glanced over after a moment, before sighing. "I am uninjured," Selena murmured, before turning to face him.

"We better get you someplace safe," he said, reaching into his magic bag and pulling out an ocarina, a musical instrument that was a bit rare in this day and age.

The mage's brow arched, startled. "What do you mean? I do not want to become a burden to you, Derrick," the young woman said quietly, though levelly.

"You won't be," he said, playing an odd tune that seemed to echo through the entire forest.

"... Why are you doing this?" she queried after a moment, waiting until his almost haunting melody vanished from the air.

He shrugged. "I feel the need is my only answer," he said, watching a large black stallion galloped up.
