Rowen glanced at Jace’s offered hand, and took it. “I’m Rowen. I also train Pokemon.” She smiled wryly, a little of her cockiness coming back into her tone. “And, it’s fine. You didn’t make me upset. Not your fault my parents are morons.” The sixteen-year-old girl grinned. Maybe, just maybe, they might still have a chance at being friends. “Hey, I saw that it looked like you wanted to talk to Professor Oak earlier. Do you wanna come with me when I go see him right now?” Rowen offered, still aware she was holding Jace’s hand. She blushed and let go quickly.

Jace took the young girl's hand, returning the smile with one of his toothy, genuine ones.
"So I see," he said with mild sarcasm, indicating the Poke ball she was carrying. "I train a few of my own," he said, winking and gesturing to the three Poke balls he had attached to his belt. "Though I think I've ticked Viola off..." he added, frowning guiltily.
“And, it’s fine. You didn’t make me upset. Not your fault my parents are morons.”
Jace winced in empathy and guilt again. That was gonna eat at his conscience for a while.
"Well, that's good to hear. Except, uh, the parent part," he backpedaled sheepishly. He decided that he rather liked the smile she was giving him right now--rakish and a bit over-confident, but with that hint of vulnerability she'd shown a second before. She seemed to have experience with making shelters and masks for herself. Jace found himself wanting to get to know the girl behind the mask, if only for curiosity's sake.
At her comment, the teen boy brightened considerably.
"Really? You'd do that? I've been wanting to talk to him for so long! Get to learn how to fight with my Pokemon better, maybe even talk him into letting me have a Pokedex, getting help catching--" He stopped himself before he let himself say 'catching Raikou', as he was about to reveal. He didn't want anyone knowing that he wanted the Legendary Pokemon--it was his goal and his alone.
To cover for the sudden silence, he touched her shoulder when she had shyly let go of his hand.
"Please can you introduce me to him?" He asked, eyes lit up like a kid at Christmas.

Rowen smiled at Jace, his eyes lit up brightly. He looks like a little kid, Rowen mused. But, that rightness in his eyes also makes him more handsome. "Please can you introduce me to him?" He had put his hand on her shoulder and Rowen could have sworn she felt jolts of electricity go threw her. ‘More than likely it’s just your injured shoulder.’ She told herself, cringing internally, remembering the would that was only now just healing and would leave a nasty scar for sure. No more wearing tank tops for you, she thought sadly. “ Of course! Oh, I bet I could get him to give you a Pokedex. After all, he gave my brothers and me one.” She said wryly.
“So, lets go! I wanna see what he needs for me to translate!” She laughed an easy, sweet sound. Rowen couldn’t remember the last time she was this…happy. ‘With William.’ She thought sadly, then shook the mental image of her used to be friend out of her mind. Anything painful she always did. She couldn’t stand to seem weak. The weak never made it.

“ Of course! Oh, I bet I could get him to give you a Pokedex. After all, he gave my brothers and me one.”
Jace laughed and grabbed her into a fast hug, excited to no end.
"Oh, gosh, I hope so! Viola, did you hear..." He frowned, remembering that his vulpix was angry with him. Now would probably be the time to reconcile with the little fire-fox... he plucked the ball from his belt and clicked the button, allowing her to appear before them. She blinked her honey eyes and turned to face him, her expression seemingly cool.
- What, Jace? -[/i] She asked mentally, her voice waspish. Jace flinched.
"Hey, Vi, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry... I didn't mean for Mako to get hurt and I know you wanted to help, and I didn't let you. I promise I won't do it again, you know I wouldn't let someone get hurt on purpose," he said in a rush, a worried frown tugging at the corners of his mouth.
The fox shook her tails, the shell bell on one of them tinkling softly.
- You listen next time, -[/i] she finally huffed, her shoulders relaxing a bit. Jace smiled and picked her up, cuddling her to his chest.
"Thanks, Vi," he let out, kissing her nose. "I have news that you'll like," he said, and gestured at Rowen. "She's gonna introduce us to the Pokemon Prof! And maybe we'll get a Pokedex," he said excitedly. Viola wuffed softly in congratulations, and he let her down. She didn't show any more signs of anger, at least.
He looked up at Rowen finally after his 'conversation' with the fox.
"Hey, thanks, by the way. You ready to go in?"

Rowen was a little surprised when Jace hugged her, but she returned the hug never the less. He was warm and soft, but she could still feel the muscles in his chest at the same time. It was a weird feeling. She wasn’t used to this. She had spent so many years building up her walls, making them impenetrable, so nobody could get close enough to hurt her again, like her parents and William had…. When he pulled away, Rowen carefully composed herself. She had a feeling that being around this boy would make it that much harder for her to keep up her walls, her shields. She shook her head slightly, but Jace didn’t notice. He was having a conversation with Viola. The little Vulpix looked a tiny bit ticked, and she would have to remember later to tell her that it wasn't Jace's fault Mako got hurt. Or, maybe she could do it right now? She took a deep breath, and tried to access her abilty to tap inot Aura. She was almost there, she just needed a little more power...With a quiet gasp, a sharp pain filled her mind. She blinked, and then shook her head, wondering what had gone wrong. She was so close to. She cold feel. Oh, well. That was the closet she's every gotten before, so that was one thing. Rowen smiled, and looked down at the pokeball that held Mako. She subconsciously fingered her Umbreon, Saturn’s pokeball too. She didn't think Jace had heard her gasp, and that was a good thing. She didn't feel like trying to explain being a Aura user, a not even good one at that. It didn't make sense to Rowen at all. Why her? Stephen or Chase could have been born with the abilty, and morethan likely could have used it without giving them a massive headache, and passing out. (Which is how she hurt her shoulder.)
"Hey, thanks, by the way. You ready to go in?" Jace asked, looking up at her. Rowen smiled, carefully putting her shield back in place, even though she had a feeling that it wouldn’t stay up for long. He seemed like the kind of person who had ways to dismantle them. Jace was reminding her, in a way of William Evans, her used to be ..well not best friend, but the closet thing she's ever had to one. He just seemed like a geniunely nice person, and for Rowen, that was refreshing. Her brothers cared, and so did the Professor, but they were about it. Well, correct that, they were the only ones who Rowen would let close. “It’s no problem. Yep, I’m ready.” She said, giving him a smart alec smirk, hoping he didn't see her internal agruments with herself, and walking towards the lab.

Jace saw Rowen's smile falter for a second before she replaced it again, looking determined or something. A couple emotions flickered across her face that confused him, and he wondered what she was thinking.
She offered to take him in with her and he grinned appreciatively. He walked forward to the lab and opened the door, standing aside to let her through first. Jace wondered what the professor would be like--would he like Jace? Would he think he was taking care of his Pokemon well? Jace didn't know, and he hoped earnestly that he would gain a Pokedex and some tips on how to catch Legendaries.

OOC Post: Oh, it's fine!
Rowen smiled at Jace when he opened the door for her. "Thank you." She said softly, and to her surprise, very sweetly. ' What' s going on with me?' She thought as Jace followed in behind her. "Professor?" She called out, and there was a scrambling somewhere upstairs. The Professor appeared at the top of the stairs and smiled at the two teens. "Hello, Rowen. I'm glad you made it over here. This is what I needed translating. Brandon, sent it to me from the Battle Pyramid.¨ He held up a stone tablet covered in Latin. Then Professor Oak noticed Jace. He smiled. "Oh, and you brought your friend along. Hello, I am Professor Oak.¨ .

Jace followed behind Rowen, his body tingling with excitement. Viola trotted alongside him, energy bubbling from her mind into his. Rowen seemed to confident and sure of herself as she walked up to the famous Pokemon Prof--the man who started it all.
Oak noticed him, finally, after speaking with Rowen about a few things, and Jace jumped when he was addressed.
"Uh, yessir! I'm Jace, Professor, and, and this is Viola," he said, pointing to the vulpix. She wagged her tails and barked, honey eyes sparkling. "I was... wondering if... well, I was wondering if I could help you research and fill a Pokedex," Jace stammered, his cheeks dusted with a blush. His gray-green eyes sought out Rowen's for reassurance, his fingers trembling.

Rowen gave Jace a reassuming smile. “Yeah, Professor Oak, I think Jace would be a lot of help.” Rowen said truthfully, shrugging her shoulders up and down. Mako decided that time to come out of her Pokeball, and jump up on Jace’s shoulder, curling up and looking like she fallen asleep. Rowen laughed slightly. Professor Oak smiled. “Hmm, well Rowen, you’re judgement is always a good thing to trust. Well, Jace yes then. I always need more help with research. Now, Rowen, would you mind translating this while I go get this young man his Pokedex?” The professor asked, as he handed Rowen the tablet and walked out of the room. Rowen grinned at Jace. “Told you.” She laughed. She looked at the stone tablet and after reading it a couple of times, felt like fainting.
The Professor walked back in, and handed Jace a Pokedex. Rowen looked up at the Professor. “Um, well I translated it. Here’s what it says. ‘Ancient evil waiting to arise, force unseen across the skies. Night, day and Time must meet, if Ancient evil thy will defeat.’ “ Rowen said shakily.

Jace could barely contain his excitement. He looked at Rowen and mouthed 'thank you' behind Professor Oak's back. She seemed to be busy with the strange tablets that Oak had given her, though.
He took the 'dex from the professor, Viola trotting about happily. Jace absently petted Mako's head, glad that Rowen's Pokemon had warmed up so quickly to him. Maybe that meant that Rowen liked him as well? He wasn't sure, but he chuckled softly as Mako began making soft snoring sounds from his shoulder.
He watched as Rowen concentrated, a half-smile on his face. She was just too cute... his smile fell when her face became grave, however. He furrowed his eyebrows in question.
Then she recited what the tablet was saying.
"Um... what the heck does that mean?" Jace asked, confused and not alarmed in the slightest.
