"Um... what the heck does that mean?" Jace asked, confused and not alarmed in the slightest. Rowen met his eyes. She looked a little unnerved. She had a feeling that whatever was about to go down, she would play a part in. Maybe Jace too. “Well, I’m not sure. Rowen, would you mind taking that to Brandon at the Battle Pyramid for me? He’ll for sure want to know what it says.” The Professor asked her, after writing down the translation. Rowen nodded at once, slipping the tablet into her bag, and then turned to Jace, suddenly nervous. “Um, Jace? Would you wanna come with me to the Battle Pyramid? I bet it help with your Pokedex?” She asked.

Jace scratched his head, still unsure of what was going on. Rowen looked very nervous, however, so he figured it must have been something... not good. Then she looked up with those cute blue eyes and asked him to go with her.
"Oh... um..." He was taken aback by the question. They'd only just met, and she wanted him to travel with her? Hm... Jace had plans of his own to train up and catch Raikou eventually, but a little sidetrack like this one wouldn't hurt, right? A chance to get all of his Pokemon some experience in battle...
"Um... sure," he answered finally. He didn't really know what was going on, but he knew that something big was going to happen... he felt it down to his bones.
- I feel it, too, Jacey, -[/i] Viola said softly from her position on the floor. Jace patted Mako gently as she snored on his shoulder.

They had walked outside, and Rowen saw that clouds were covering what should’ve have been the bright, mid day sun. Rowen sensed his confusion and frowned slightly. “Oh, you don’t have to if you don’t want too. I just thought it would be nice to travel with someone other than my stupid brothers for once…” She left off. Great, look what she did. She just had to ask, huh? She couldn’t meet his eyes, and she tried in vain, to put up her shields again, and come up with some snappy, smart alec comment to cover up her embarrassment. None came to mind.

Jace didn't really think his hesitancy to answer would be translated by the girl as a sign that he didn't like her or want to go with her and he immediately felt guilty.
"No, no, it's not like that!" He insisted, waving his hands. He disturbed the pikachu resting on his shoulder, who snorted in her sleep and snuggled in closer to his neck. "It's not that I don't like you, Rowe, it's just that... well, I want to catch this Legendary, and I need some training for it, but... I don't wanna stray from that, you know?" He said, scratching behind his head sheepishly.
He stroked Mako's long ears, noting their soft feel.
"So, yeah, I want to go with you, it's just... I still have to catch that Pokemon, you know?" He said, half-smiling and catching her eye. Viola put her paws up on Rowen's knee, standing so that she would see the other trainer. The little vulpix whined softly in reassurance and spoke to her through the telepathic link for the first time.
- Don't worry, Jacey likes you, - [/i]Viola clarified, wagging her tails again.

Rowen smiled at Jace and laughed a little when Mako snuggled closer to the other trainer. A legendary huh? Hmm, I wonder what kind? Rowen thought as Jace assured her that he did want to travel with her. He seemed to be one of the types of people when they felt bad talked a lot. Rowen gave him an easy smile. -Don't worry, Jacey likes you, - Viola clarified, wagging her tails again. Rowen smiled at the small fire fox, bending down, and petting her. Rowen took a deep breath and tried to use Aura again. This time, it came to her much easier. She wondered why, but didn’t waste time to reflect in case it started causing her trouble again. –Viola, I like him too.- Rowen thought. She added as a after thought, -I can use Aura. Can it be our little secret?-
Rowen looked up at Jace with a warm smile. Rowen could tell that being around this boy would make it impossible to keep her shields up, but for the moment, she didn’t care.

Viola glanced back at her master, busy petting Mako's ears.
- Yeah, I can do that. I'm glad you like Jacey too, -[/i] Viola said happily. - How can you talk like me? -[/i] Viola asked, tilting her head. It would be fun for the smart little fox to 'speak' with Rowen in secret, exchanging commentary back and forth. Perhaps at one point, Viola would tell Jace... but, for now, it was just between the girls.
"So, when did you wanna leave?" Jace asked suddenly, looking up. Viola did her best to look innocent. "I need to stop by the Poke Center and get my spearow and gastly all rested up," he clarified.

Rowen grinned at Jace. “Sure! I grabbed my bag earlier this morning before I left my house,” She gestured to the big brick plantation a little ways down the road, and said” So, I’m good to go. “ She pulled out her map, and looked at the route to the Battle Pyramid. “Hmm, we’ll have to go threw Lavender Town, so it’ll take maybe a day or so.” She shrugged, folding the map up and stowing it back into her shoulder bag. She threw Viola a grin, and then smirked at Jace. “Race you to the Pokemon Center!” She called, and sprinted off, Mako waking up at once and sprinting after her trainer.

Jace felt Mako's little paws pressing against his shoudler as the pikachu dashed after her mistress, running at top-speed towards the Pokemon Center. Viola followed suit, barking at Jace to follow.
"All right, then, Miss!" He shouted happily, and ran as fast as he could towards the Pokemon Center, not quite beating Rowen there.
"I'll win... next time..." He panted, grinning easily. He stepped towards the doors, letting them woosh open automatically, and picked up Viola to bring to the desk. One of the Nurse Joys was there waiting for him.
"How may I help you?" She asked politely. A chansey busily organized Poke Balls in a machine nearby.
"Uh, yeah. I just need to 'recharge' these guys," Jace said. He took the two Poke balls from his belt and handed them over. "Viola, return," he said quietly. The vulpix nodded and went back into her ball obediently. Jace gave them to the waiting nurse. She bustled by the chansey and placed them in the machine. He turned to Rowen.
"Well, we've gotta wait a few minutes. There's a bench over here, wanna chat?" He asked, pointing.

Rowen nodded, and followed Jace over to the bench, sitting down next to him. She found herself smiling, and tried to remember the last time she had felt this happy. Thunder rumbled outside suddenly, and Rowen jumped a little. One thing she hated was thunderstorms. She shook herself, and pulled out the tablet again, looking at it, but holding it like it might bite her or something. The rain poured down, and Rowen cursed her stupidity for not grabbing a jacket before she left this morning. Of course her house was just a street away, so she could easily fix the problem. She slipped the stone tablet back into her back carefully, and looked at Jace. Standing up, she said” Hey, I gotta run back to my house real quick. It’s just a street away. I can’t believe I didn’t grab a jacket this morning,” She shook her head at her own stupidity. “Do you wanna come, or would you rather stay nice and dry in the Pokemon center?” She laughed. Mako came out of her Pokeball, and curled up on the bench, and gave Rowen a look that said ‘There is NO way I’m going out into the rain. “I think Mako’d rather stay here.” She laughed.

Jace grinned at her and shook his head.
"Forgot a jacket, huh?" He asked. He shook his own off of his shoulders. "Here, don't bother getting wet for no reason--use mine," he offered, holding it up to her.
"Aw, Mako, you don't like thunder and rain?" Jace asked the pikachu, ruffling its fur. "I thought pikachus loved lightning..."
The nurse came back, carrying Jace's Pokemon, and he jumped up.
"Hey, Rowen, c'mere! I need to introduce you to my other two Pokemon," he said excitedly, holding the Poke balls and thanking the nurse before walking back over to be near Rowen. He plucked one of them from his arms and smiled.
"This is my gastly--he looks scary, but he's a soft-heart," Jace said, smiling, and released the Pokemon. "This is Rast."
The gastly turned its abnormal red eyes to Rowen and averted its eyes shyly. "Hello," he said in a raspy voice. Like most other gastlies, Rast could use the human tongue out loud, and often employed the ability. However, Rast was unlike the other ghosts in that he was shy and gentle, and hated the reputation his species got thanks to his relatives.
He released the other Pokemon--a spearow.
"Rowen... meet, er... Rowan," he laughed. "Rowan's a little... ornery, sometimes, but I know he's got a spark of kindness somewhere in there."
The bird fluffled its wings and settled upon Jace's shoulder, eyeing the others haughtily.
"And you've met Viola," he said, releasing her. She got out, stretched, and yawned. Apparently, she'd had a great nap.
