(PM me or Moon-hime if you want more info on this rp.)
Chris White steered his little skiff out from the bay marina towards more open water, and then guided the boat down the shore until it got rockier and the danger of running into a coral reef became a possibility. He brought the engine to rest when he could not see the town. The Hawaiian shirted young man then took a Coke-Cola out from the cooler on his skiff and baited his sturdy rod. Chris readjusted his bucket hat before casting his line and walking over to the swivel chair at the bow of the skiff. He placed the coke in a nearby cup holder and set to work.
About an hour passed with no luck. He used the trolling motor to keep a healthy distance from the rocks and a keen eye allowed him to watch for the shadow of a reef in the sunlight. On the third time he repositioned his boat a quick flash caught his eye in the water, a big one. Chris rubbed his shaggy cheeks. He’s fished in these waters for years and he could not remember sunshine flashing off scales that noticeably before aside from a school of fish close to the surface. However, that flash was not spread out like a school was.
“Wonder what that was?” Chris said to himself before using the trolling motor to go that direction scanning the water for any more signs. He saw another flash similar to the first going towards the rocks, and Chris followed too curious to listen to his better judgment. He was so wrapped up in the pursuit of the mystery fish that he did not see the obscured rock until his trolling motor scrapped against it.
“Dang it!” He shouted when he pushed off the rock and saw his trolling motor’s propeller was bent out of shape. The ocean pushed him closer and closer to the rocky cliff, and realizing he needed to get out of here Chris scrambled to the controls for his main motor. He cranked it up and tried to wheel about. However, the arch was too wide, Chris was in the barely submerged rocks too deep, and sure enough he battered against them. His boat jarred violently and threw him off into the water before he knew what happened.

The cool waters swished around her in the coming-evening sun, the near-surface far warmer than she would've imagined. But her first trip towards it was soon disrupted by a loud hum, coursing through the waters. Darting away from the surface before she was seen, heading for the nearest form of shelter she could get in the open ocean. That shelter being a rocky outcrop in the water, but large enough to hide the reflection of her dolphin-like fin.
Only to have the force of a shark slam against it as the boat hit, slivers whipping past her face. The sheer impact carried Ria's pale sand colored hair back with the sharp current, only for waves to batter what was left of the craft above her. Shrinking back as a sturdy human was hurled into the water from the surf, trying to stay out of sight. Her vivid blue eyes watching him, the human ruthlessly buffeted by the uncaring waves, wary.
Inky blackness was slipping into the water with each moment that slipped by, clouding the once clean waves. Making it not only difficult to see, but to breathe. And it was leaking enough of the filth that it was quickly becoming a challenge to breathe alone - A powerful lash of her tail fin opening a wave of clean water as she propelled herself along, coughing. Hesitating in the water, watching the dazed human again. She had heard they couldn't breathe underwater. Something that would present a problem.

Chris tried to fight the tugging ocean, but it was useless with his wet clothes dragging him down and the sheer might of the water. He still flayed about in an effort to at least reach the surface that became more and more out of his reach. His mind raced as the lack of air felt was constricting his lungs making him further weaker which didn’t help his panic! His reflex efforts to breathe were rewarded with precious air bubbles rising to the surface as he sank deeper.

After a bit of hesitation, she finally darted downwards in the water. The pale mermaid's arms hooking underneath the man's shoulders, sharply reversing her pull as she set back against his weight. Propelling them upwards with surprising ease, seeming unnaturally strong. But unease crept along her muscular frame as they neared the surface, nervous. She had revealed herself to a human. She had saved one.
And the consequences were unknown.
Breaking the surface for the first time, half-limp body in tow as a wave washed over them. Now trying to keep the human's head above the water, the deed already done. It was too late to retreat now.

(Hope I read it right and you hadn't started going towards somewhere and are just looking at him)
Chris suddenly felt as if he was shooting up through the water and when his head pierced the surface he sucked in air as if he never did it before. He then registered the arms beneath his armpits, and it felt like something was periodically beating against his legs. The air smelt of gasoline. His brown eyes widened when they saw aqua blue ones beneath the brim of his damp hat, “Who… wha?”

(OOC: Mmmhmm.)
The lithe mermaid tensed as his dark brown gaze fixated on her, hardly aware of the stench that hung in the water in that split second. Harsh waves still rammed into the native water-dweller, yet hardly seeming to affect her. Holding steady above the surface, at least. Quiet, intimidated. Tempted to let the human fend for himself now that he was awake, though her wariness remained.

Waves battered into Chris going over his head. The salt water dried his lips, burned his eyes, and parched his throat. He forced his limbs to stay limp for the sake of his savior because he knew thrashing around would get them both killed. The brown haired young man grew frightened when whom or whatever was holding him up just stared at him. Another wave went over them leaving Chris gasping again for air,"G... go to shore!"
The fisherman was no slouch, but he knew a person cannot fight the ocean- it will win. And he was surrounded by rocks as if this bad situation couldn't get worse. He surrendered his trust to this... girl that by some miracle was here with the ability to undoubtedly save his life.

It was quickly becoming clear that the human wasn't strong enough to survive on his own in the waves. Every time a wave washed over them, he would cough, sputtering. His gasping request all but a plea in itself. Nodding after a moment, leaning back in the strong current. Keeping his head further above the water than her own, though now only holding onto him with one arm wrapped around his chest, the other sliding through the water. Her strong tail carrying them away from the polluted water at astounding speed for any human swimmer, or for one carrying something. Much less another body.
But the shore was approaching far too quickly for Ria, pace slowing as they neared shallow waters. Although the human's body had remained limp, the unsteady breathing she had heard told her he was indeed conscious. Finally coming to a halt entirely as they reached an empty, secluded section of a beach - Resting him on the sand as the surf splashed against them, the gleam of her tail in full sunlight now.
Even as the salty water washed up on the edge of the beach, though, the young woman was already edging back towards the water. Watching the rise and fall of the man's chest once he had finished coughing, wariness visible in her electric blue eyes. She'd heard many stories of the "fish-hunts" that humans had undergone for a bit of their flesh, centuries ago. Were they still true?

Chris kept his eyes closed through the entire ordeal and just focused on breathing. He had thrown himself into the whirlwind, thus he had to let it carry him wherever it may. The speed at which his mystery savior traveled carrying his dead weight was something he'd imagine only from Olympic swimmers! She must be using the tide to her advantage and carrying him to shore.
Next Chris knew, his back was on the coarse sand and the incoming waves lapped around him. Coughing out any remaining salt water, he placed his hand on his head and was shocked to feel his bucket cap still on. At least it kept sand out of his buzz cut. He wiggled his toes to feel he lost both sandals. Chris laid on the ground till until his breathing finally calmed. Chris then propped himself up towards where he felt eyes staring at him. When he now had a better look at his rescuer under full sunlight he was astounded and speechless. His jaw literally dropped.
The mermaid was on her belly with her silvery blue tail raised in the air. Her wet blonde hair draped freely around her head and shoulders and the only clothes he saw was a... purple tube top? Obviously there to cover her more feminine traits, but it was on of the last thing he'd attach to an image of a mermaid. A pole that appeared to be coral with seaweed wrapped around it rested on her back. She eyed him with the same suspicion and wariness he'd expect from a stray dog.
Chris struggled to form words at the sight he previously only attached to fiction, but before him was a living breathing mermaid. Not only that, but it also saved his life! Yet she still stayed on the beach with him. Her tail was in the surf, but he could see her as plainly as she could see him.
"Um... dah... Hi..." Chris stammered unsure of what to do next. Beats staring at her jaw opened like some kind of idiot, but he imagined his inability to form a coherent sentences has only reinforced that impression.

(OOC: Short ... T_T)
The pale mermaid edged back as he suddenly sat up, getting a clear look at her. Nervousness clear, her semi-transparent tail fin slowly swishing against the tide-washed sand. And yet, it seemed his reaction wasn't quite what she expected - Instead of what she had been told of, his was one of shock. But she simply stared back at him for a moment, before hesitantly speaking. "... You're all right?"
