Chris couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed at Ria's reply, but it must have always been fools hope. Anyways, now to figure out what was going to happen next.
"So... are you going to leave now?"

She waited, uncertain. They had yet to decide how they would find one another again - And not be seen while doing so. "I suppose so ... Shall I return here on the morrow? Perhaps ... sometime near the evening?"

Chris nodded. He'd be off from work at the restaurant by 8 if he wasn't killed for crashing his boat.
"Works for me. If you can come here, this might be the best place for you to... get legs. Do you need anything?"

The young mermaid glanced at her tail thoughtfully, before her gaze wandered to his shorts. "Will I need anything ... like those?" she asked after a moment, supposing that there were likely standards for human garments and what was expected to be worn. They were odd creatures in that manner. But she did not want to draw attention to herself.

Chris nodded when he understood that she was talking about his shorts. He knew someone who could help him out with something either feminine or unisex.
"Yep, it'd be for the best. I'll take care of that."

She nodded, satisfied that it was taken care of. "All right. Well ... I suppose I should go before someone sees us ..." Ria said after a moment, though clearly wanting to learn more even now. But first needing to retrieve her crystal, effectively putting it off. "Farewell," the young woman added softly, before suddenly leaping into the water with a strong push of her fin against the sand. Tempted to break the surface briefly to glance back, but continuing back to the darker depths of the ocean.

"See ya lat..." Chris tries to say but she was already gone as if she was never was there. He stood, and at first tried tp brush off the sand but he was so covered in it there was no point. Shrugging, he walked back to the road barefoot hoping hitchhiking would work cause otherwise he was screwed miles away from town. At least he left his cellphone in his car.
All of this time he could not push Ria out of his mind...

Now back at the restaurant where he worked and caught fish for the owner, Chris still found thoughts of Ria swimming in his mind. Her promise to return was most particular. However, he would need to keep the mermaid out of his head for a moment because telling the owner of the restaurant that his boat was in the rocks would not blow over well. Chris’s catches were not the primary means to provide customer’s with the main attraction of fresh fish but it was a boost if shipments failed.

When Clarissa heard Chris's distinguishable stride, she tossed down the dish towel and went out into the main restaurant to meet him. Only to stop mid-stride upon seeing his disheveled and dirt-streaked appearance. "... Do I want to know what happened?"

“Would it make it any better if I said no?” Chris said with a groan as he placed his hands on his knees and looked to the hardwood floor unable to look at Clarissa thanks to the embarrassment of losing his boat, fishing gear, and being late for his shift. At least the dinner rush was a ways off. They may be friends outside the seaside restaurant; however, she is his employer. The question then becomes how honest should he be because he never was a good liar.
Chris sighed, “How much do you want to know?”
