"Well there are sea snakes, but I heard they are some of the most poisonous in the world!" Chris said as he slowly crawled closer to Ria and struggled to contain his excitement. This was just too much like a dream to be real! He gently touched the tail near where it was bent as she sat, and he stroked following the scales so they felt smooth. However, when he ran his finger towards Ria's torso he felt the ridges of the individual scales his finger found.
"They do feel like scales..." He said with intrigue and stopped. He took 3 steps back and sat as he was before, "So, since I had a question do you have any more?"

The young mermaid nodded in acknowledgment, though having never personally encountered the venomous things. The thought that they were even more venomous to her kind than humans briefly floated through her head, pondering at the idea. Of course, considering their more fish-like qualities, she supposed it was only natural that they were more readily available as prey. Shifting slightly as the human inched closer, odd blue eyes following the movement of his hand as it gently traced along her tail.
Ria was, admittedly, relieved when he moved back once more. Pausing at Chris's question, considering. Breathing a small sigh of contentment as a cool breeze wafted over her shoulders, eyes briefly closing. When she opened them again, seeming to arrive at a decision. "If I were to return ... would you show me some of your world?"

The breeze washed over Chris as well which chilled the soaked human. Shivering, he heard the mermaid’s request and dwelled on it. Show Ria his world on land? Would be hard considering she can’t walk, but then is she inferring she can get legs? Interesting… Chris was lost in thought for a moment on the possibilities of what Ria wasn't telling him, but then found himself again.
“If it isn’t too much trouble for you I have no problem with it.” Chris replied. He would like to spend more time with Ria in the hopes to quench his curiosity. Not every day fantasy shows itself as reality.
Then he thought about what he was saying, "Um... how will you find me again, or how can I find you if you prefer?"

The blonde mermaid tilted her head slightly as he shivered, finding the cold breeze refreshing after the heat of the sun. Then again, he was more used to the warmth than he was the cold. They were rather on opposite ends of the spectrum, considering. A small smile curving he lips as he responded, her own mind working towards the next immediate issue -
If Tai saw her retrieve her birthright, there would be questions. Although both of her siblings also had their own crystal, they were rarely used. Only her older brother was familiar with the workings of it. And Chris's question only compounded her own.
"... Is this section of the beach always unused? From what I gather, we cannot change in water," Ria murmured hesitantly, rubbing a hand up her arm as she spoke.

Chris was as surprised at her apparent unease as he was to her response. She seemed fairly confident before, but now... it was as if she was having second thoughts. He was just curious as to why. Just another addition to the other 50 thousand questions he had.
"Um... yeah, I guess so. Why?" He asked as he rubbed his sides to assist the sun in getting him feeling warm again.

Ria nodded once at his confirmation, pondering. "We are not supposed to be seen ... I am certain you can imagine why," the mermaid returned softly, slowly extending her tail again. Cool water washed over the smooth scales and semi-transparent fin with the wave, only to recede as it was pulled away, droplets quickly sliding off of the former. "It could be ... troublesome ..." she added softly, voice trailing off an unfinished thought. One he was perhaps best not knowing at the moment.

“Very understandable.” Chris said as his eyes followed the tail. He didn’t think that the words majestic and magical would come to his mind today, but he stood corrected.
“What do you mean by you cannot change underwater?” He asked tilting his head to the side in confusion.

Though still trying to solve the issue of her own, but glancing back at him when he spoke. "Few talismans have the power to change what should be fins into legs, or keep them as legs, when wet. It reverts us to our natural state, for most of our kind," Ria explained quietly, clearly passing on something she had been told, by someone she respected. But her words were solid.

"Huh," Chris said amazed that his interest never seemed to be satisfied, "Does it work for everyone?"

"For our people, as far as I know," Ria returned, her gaze following his briefly to her tail. Musing, swaying the fin subconsciously. Half wondering if it worked on humans, even if the thought would've amused most merfolk then been dismissed.
