Jace flinched as the psyshock attack landed, feeling a tiny bit guilty that he'd caused Tyson's dragon that pain... but he shook it off, knowing that the trainer would take good care of his Pokemon after the battle. Now, he had to focus as Rowan flitted about around Darwing, like an irritating insect about to get crushed by a flying elephant... but Jace knew that the fearow could hold his own, stinging the opponent where it hurt.
"Ha!" Jace snorted as Tyson called for the Dragon Claw attack, elated that Tyson had chosen such a perfect move to counter... this was the best opportunity the trainer could have to get in a strong blow and cripple the tough salamence's opposition.
"MIRROR MOVE!" Jace shouted, louder than he'd done before, finger outstretched. Rowan spread his wings and used the clever attack, eyes sharp and fierce. The Dragon Claw attack hit the bird all the same, and Rowan squawked in pain--but he remained steadfast, flinging the exact same attack right back at the salamence.
"Giga impact!"
The fearow complied immediately, tucking in his wings and barrelling recklessly towards his opponent--a strong attack, but dangerous... if it missed, the bird would take a moment to recover, giving the dragon an opening to hit him... and Rowan was hurt pretty badly already with that first blow by Darwing--the Dragon Claw attack was brutal, if still useful against the other Pokemon.

Tyson showed clear confusion on his features as Jace responded to his order for Dragon Claw with a look of triumph...what was on the Trainer's mind? When Jace called for his Fearow to use Mirror Move, Tyson gasped, realising...the Fearow was going to turn Darwing's own power against him!
"Darwing back off!" he roared, desperation in his voice. "Call it off!" But it was too late, Darwing's claws already striking the nimble bird, which squawked with the harsh blow, before glaring at the Salamence, it's own talons glowing with the exact same energy seen on Darwing's claws as it used the giant dragon's own move against him, with no way of missing.
"No!" Tyson's cry was clearly audible, even through Darwing's anguished roar as the Dragon-type attack landed home, only to be followed up rapidly by a vicious Giga Impact, the two successive blows enough to drive the Salamence back to the ground, landing heavily, clearly shaken by the sudden string of powerful attacks. No-one, in the history of the Chaos Gym, had ever dealt that much damage to Darwing that rapidly.
Come on, Tyson, think! Tyson mentally berated himself, trying to recover from the sudden turn of events. Darwing's Dragon Claw attack was useless now, the Fearow's Mirror Move ensuring that any future attempts to use that attack would be punished severely...Darwing probably wouldn't survive another one of those.
But Tyson's resolve would not falter, and a determined look crossed his features once more...Darwing was hurting...but he still had some fight left in him. "Darwing, Crunch!" he ordered, determined to make the most of the recharge period the use of Giga Impact forced upon the user, as the powerful dragon, now looking rather worse for wear, took to the skies again, snapping viciously at Rowan with his powerful jaws. "Now, Brick Break!" he commanded once again, determined to capitalise on Darwing's strength before the surprisingly strong Fearow could harm him any further, as Darwing launch an earth-shattering punch at the agile bird, the pain of having it's own move returned to it making it more determined than ever to being the annoying feathered menace down.

Jace pumped his fist in the air, whooping when both attacks landed on the huge dragon's body. He noted Tyson's nervous look and grinned, knowing that he was giving the Dragon Tamer a heck of a battle. Darwing swooped back around, jaws wide at Tyson's command, but Rowan darted away just in time--however, the dragon caught the bird's tail feathers in his teeth... squawking in dismay, Rowan spun to face his opponent.
"Drill peck!" Jace called, and the bird ducked under the dragon's head, feathers still stuck in its mouth and aimed the attack at the dragon's broad underbelly.
But the Brick Break attack landed perfectly, swatting the bird effortlessly away. Rowan's breath was knocked out of his chest and the air out of his wings as he shot downward, landing with a hard thud on his back. The bird let out a last feeble caw before flopping back, exhausted.
"You were brilliant! Return, Rowan!" The bird disappeared in a blast of light, but Jace didn't falter--he'd known that Darwing would go through at least a few of his team... Grabbing a pink Love Ball, he expanded it, tossing it into the arena.
"C'mon, Taro! We can do it!" Jace said excitedly. The luxray zoomed out of the ball, landing with all four feet spread. Even though Taro was a lot smaller in stature than Darwing, he exuded a sense of power and confidence. The lion's red and yellow eyes gleamed with the thrill of the battle, attentive to the tired dragon's every move.
Now, to use the tactic Jace had been planning with the electric type...
"Taro, use Thunder Wave!"
The lion complied, fur crackling and standing on end with the static electricity... Though the dragon wasn't weak to lightning, the paralysis may help to end Darwing's flight and make him a much easier target...

Tyson's eyes narrowed, focusing intently as Jace called for Drill Peck, watching every detail of the battle...this exchange between Darwing and Rowan had not worked in his favour at all, and Darwing would certainly be in trouble if the next attack hit. But things finally turned in Darwing's favour as, despite pretty much missing with the Crunch attack, the Brick Break scored a direct hit, knocking the Fearow out of the air, where it crashed to the ground, out of the battle.
Tyson heaved a sigh of relief as Rowan was recalled into his PokeBall, glancing at his Salamence who, while still hovering proudly, was clearly showing the signs of that last battle. The returned Dragon Claw, along with the Giga Impact, had left a few bruises, and he was practically gasping for breath, clearly feeling the effects of that fight...one of the most challenging the Salamence had ever faced. Jace may now be down three Pokemon to Tyson's one, but two more of Tyson's were hurt...this battle was going to be close. Tyson briefly touched the bright red Cherish Ball at his waist, which contained his last, closely-guarded secret Pokemon...one he had never had to use. Tyson realised that, the way this battle was going, his long-kept secret might just be revealed today.
But Tyson then cocked an eyebrow as Jace unleashed his fourth Pokemon...a Luxray. Surely Jace remembered Darwing's effective use of Earthquake on Gabriel before...why was he sending out an Electric-type? The answer came two seconds later when Jace called for Thunder Wave...he was going to cripple Darwing's powerful aggression, before finishing him off.
"Darwing, move!" Tyson shouted as the blue pulse of electricity shot the Salamence's way. "Dodge and respond with Earthquake!" Darwing responded quickly, diving towards the ground in an ingenious tactic...it allowed him to dive under the Thunder Wave and execute his Earthquake all at once...
...Or at least it should have. Darwing's massive size once again proved his biggest weakness as, despite the dragon's best effort, the Thunder Wave still landed, zapping him with enough force to stun him, roaring as the attack rendered him immobile for a brief second, before crashing down to the ground, somehow still triggering an Earthquake attack, but one that was clearly significantly weaker than the one he had performed before...even with the Luxray's weakness to it, Tyson doubted that would cause any major problems.
"Come on, Darwing, keep it together!" he called, trying to put the fighting spirit back into his battered and hurting Salamence as it struggled to get back onto its feet, clearly feeling the numbing, paralysing effects of the Thunder Wave. Jace definitely knew how to battle, that was for sure...

(Urgh… this one’s a little bit short.)
Jace was impressed by Tyson’s attempt to have Darwing dive under the Thunder Wave attack and slam into the earth, liking the trainer’s quick thinking, but it was to no avail… the dragon was still hit, now weakened by the electric shock. Jace knew that the Earthquake was coming—it seemed logical for the other trainer to use, seeing as Taro was an electric type… but he knew what to do. The only way to dodge the rumbling ground…
“Taro, jump! Get on him and use Thunder Fang!”
The lion leapt at just the right moment, jaws wide and sparking with lightning—the luxray leapt atop the salamence, just between its shoulders where it would be tough to reach… but the cat was like an annoying bug in comparison to the size of Darwing. Jace was unsure that Taro could remain seated on the dragon if Darwing decided to try and shake him off… but at least he’d dodged that Earthquake attack. Growling, Taro leapt forward, aiming to bite the dragon’s wing.

Tyson grimaced as Jace ordered the Luxray to get on Darwing's back, effectively dodging the Earthquake and capitalising on the Salamence's weakened state. "Darwing, shake him off! Body Slam backwards!" he roared, hoping he could get the Luxray shaken in time...Darwing was struggling as it was.
But Darwing's paralysis was causing all kinds of problems, the Salamence still trying to shake the effects of the Electric pulse, so by the time he had recovered enough to act on Tyson's orders, Taro's elecrified fangs had already sunk into the dragon's wing, ripping a screeching roar from his throat as the electric current surged through him again.
As the attack subsided, Darwing stood there, head hanging, panting heavily. Tyson could actually see sweat dripping off the Salamence's face as he struggled to keep going...he was weak, but determined to give his Tamer one last show before going out. Gritting his massive fangs in determination, the Salamence gave one last, strangled roar of defiance, before leaping into the air, twisting his body around so that he would land on his back, meaning either Taro would be flung off violently, or hurt under the Salamence's crushing Body Slam attack.
But as Darwing hit the ground, Tyson could see it was over...Darwing's upside-down frame had gone limp as, with one last shaky growl, the Salamence had finally succumbed to the harsh battling, fighting to the very end. Tyson closed his eyes, resisting the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose as his most powerful Pokemon finally went down. "Darwing..." he sighed, before pulling out his Great Ball once more, returning the dragon to it's capsule, smiling weakly as he did. "I'm sorry, my friend...but you did wonderfully."
As he put the Great Ball away, Tyson looked once more to Jace, a new level of respect in the Dragon Tamers. "Jace...you have really impressed me so far. Taking down Darwing is usually no easy task, and I have learnt a lot from this battle already, as I'm sure you have. But defeating Darwing doesn't mean you've won...my team has still got a lot of fight left in them!" With this, he turned to Topaz, smiling at the feline. "Ready for another go, girl?" he asked, getting a determined nod from the Classy Cat as she stepped out onto the battlefield, ready to show this Luxray who was the real boss around here.
"Topaz, Agility!" he called, the Classy Cat loosening herself rapidly, already rather warmed up by her earlier confrontation with the Kirlia. "Now, Slash!" he cried, Topaz yowling her challenge as she rapidly charged the Luxray, claws extending as she went in for one of her favourite attacks.

Jace's body tensed as Tyson ordered the dragon to slam Taro to the ground, panicking slightly, even though the powerful Pokemon was taken down by the lion's bite.... A bead of sweat dripped down his temple as he yelled to Taro.
"Get out of the way! Don't let him crush you!"
Taro obeyed, getting off of Darwing as fast as he could, getting most of his body out from under the hulking figure--but howling in pain when his tail got caught under Darwing's body. But it was only his tail... nothing he needed for battle, and though it caused the lion pain, Jace knew that Taro could work through it.
"Shake it off, Taro... that's good," Jace said to the lion, who shot him an irritated look that said clearly, Why don't YOU get up here and fight a giant dragon and get your tail squashed? Jace laughed sheepishly as Topaz was recalled into battle. The trainer frowned, knowing that the cat was much too fast for Taro... The Slash attack came out of nowhere, striking Taro's hindquarters so fast that his roar of pain was delayed a moment.
"Whoa..." Jace breathed. He furrowed his brow, knowing that he'd have to change tactics... "Volt Switch, Taro!" Jace called, unsure of whether or not the attack would hit... Topaz was entirely too fast for the electric lion, so he really needed to get a different member of his team to fight the classy cat.
Taro's body lit with the powerful electric attack, sparks flying as he surged foward. He aimed straight for Topaz, but Jace was almost sure that it wouldn't hit... which was why the second half of the attack was the most useful. After the voltage died down, Taro was automatically recalled into his Love Ball. Jace palmed another Poke Ball, expanding it and releasing his next Pokemon.
'All right... it's your turn, Vi,'[/b] Jace thought, knowing that the newly released vulpix would hear him.
- Yay! Finally, some action! -[/b] She sent back, grinning. - So... Will-o'-wisp and Confuse Ray, right?- Viola asked, knowing that status was important for fast Pokemon like Topaz. Viola's eyes lit with the strange kitsune power as she prepared her first attack--Will-o'-wisp.
Jace nodded and she leapt into action, zooming across the field. Her small feet carried her quickly, and even though she was about to battle fiercely, a happy look was plastered to her face--like a young kit playing with its siblings. Jace smirked, knowing that Tyson would be caught off-guard... he hadn't said anything aloud at all, and thoughts were a tad bit faster than speech... plus, Viola was very capable of battling on her own. He hoped that this advantage would work over the speedy persian.

As Taro came as Topaz with Volt Switch, Tyson's call for Topaz to evade came a full second after the Classy Cat had already begun moving, nimbly side-stepping the attack, only catching the vague crackle of static electricity as the leonine Pokemon passed her, moving back to stand near Tyson once more as the Luxray was recalled, waiting for Jace's next Pokemon.
Tyson was slightly perplexed when Jace completely silent as he sent out his latest Pokemon, a Vulpix...maybe he was finally starting to rattle the challenger a little. But when the happy-looking Vulpix charged at Topaz, apparantly without a command, Tyson frowned...he was definitely missing something here. "Topaz, look sharp! Something's up, here..."
Sure enough, Topaz was wholly unprepared when the Vulpix let loose with a sinister-looking blue flame attack, one Tyson was quick to recognise as Will-o-Wisp. "Topaz!" he cried as Topaz yelped, not expecting the sudden attack, before diving clumsily out of the way, desperation making her sloppier than usual, even if she escaped the burning attack.
It had put her off-balance, though, leaving the Classy Cat with nowhere to go as she was struck square in her golden gem by the follow-up Confuse Ray, yowling as her head, along with her vision, started to swim sickeningly, her mind slowing down as the confusion took hold. "Topaz, no!" Tyson cried, fully aware of just how bad Confuse Ray could turn the tide of any battle...it was known for reducing even the strongest Pokemon to nothing.
"Topaz, try and fight through it!" he called desperately. "Dark Pulse!" But to the Persian, her Trainer's words were warped to almost complete incoherence, and with her vision swimming so badly, finding her target was difficult, especially since she was trying to keep moving...a still target was a dead target, after all.
Nevertheless, Topaz tried to obey the desperate command, her gem glowing with Dark energy as she tried to focus her vision enough. She spotted a red blur amongst the mass of greys that dominated the Chaos Gym, and fired the Dark attack in that direction, not even sure if it was the Vulpix she was aiming at...the confusion really messed with her.

Jace pretty much expected the luxray’s attack to miss, so when the persian cleverly stepped aside, he wasn’t at all surprised… he watched eagerly as his vulpix ran for the attack, however, noting the clear look of confusion on Tyson’s and Topaz’s faces.
- Ha, we’re sure gonna show them!- Viola cried telepathically, her tongue lolling out rakishly. Her first attack missed… but the Confuse Ray hit, probably one of the most useful status changes the vulpix could administer to the quick-footed cat. Without any direction from Jace, she used Flamethrower, simultaneously pushing through the Dark Pulse—which hit her anyway, but she only winced and continued the flames—aiming the fire straight at Topaz.
After the flames subsided, Viola limped slightly as she darted to the side, trying to keep Topaz guessing at where she was.
-I’m still pretty good, Jacey,- she told him. He knew she was always honest, letting him know when she was truly tired… fibbing and trying to fake wellness only ended in lost battles, as they’d learned a long time ago. He nodded once before thinking of the next move.
'Use payback, Vi,' Jace thought, and the fox immediately rushed forward, growling lightly as she let herself feel the anger at being struck by the persian’s Dark Pulse… Jace knew he’d better be fast, Tyson figured things out quickly…

Topaz, still not even sure if the Dark Pulse attack had struck, was completely unprepared when a wave of reds and yellows filled her swimming vision. She didn't have to wonder what it was for very long, though, as the Flamethrower attack scored a rare direct hit on the agile Persian, who yowled at the searing flames...the Vulpix was certainly powerful.
But the Falmethrower did have the interesting side-effect of throwing off the worst of her confusion. She was still a little sluggish, and her balance was off somewhat, but she was no longer staggering about like a blind little kitten any more. Good thing, too, because Viola was rushing at her once more, eyes fierce with anger...Payback for the Dark Pulse, most likely.
"Topaz, Power Gem!" Tyson cried, trying to capitalise on the Rock-type attack's strength before Topaz could succumb. But Topaz's continued confusion undid her efforts, Viola's Payback striking her hard before she could charge up her gem, sending the lithe Persian rolling away, finally ending up in a few several feet away from the Vulpix...and not moving.
"Topaz!" Tyson cried, waiting only for a few moments before taking his first steps since the battle began, actually walking out onto the battlefield to get to his companion, kneeling down beside her. She was still conscious, but clearly no longer able to battle. "Come on, girl, you were fantastic," he said softly, before putting his arms under limp frame, picking the Classy Cat up despite her weight, and carrying her back to the Gym Leader's designated place on the battlefield, placing her back down beside him as he turned back to Jace.
"As you may already be aware of, Jace, Topaz is...uncomfortable with Poke Balls," Tyson said by way of explanation, showing him the Luxury Ball he kept for her. "Even one of these won't help." He put the Luxury Ball back away, before grabbing his next one, a Fast Ball this time. "And I must say, you're giving me the fight of my life here, Jace...that Vulpix is clearly very well trained." He paused for a moment, remembering the way it seemed to act entirely independently of Jace. It seemed familiar...and Tyson quickly understood why. "I take it you can communicate telepathically with it, then?" he asked, although he held a confidence in his voice that told Jace the answer was obvious. "Well, mind-talk all you want, because it won't save you from this! Ryuu, show 'em your stuff!" he said with confidence, the thrill of battle returning to him as he threw the Fast Ball into the air, a bright flash revealing a highly confident-looking Charizard, which looked down at the Vulpix that was challenging it, before making a derisive snort, acting as if it was insulted at being sent out against such a small challenger.
"Alright, Ryuu, show them how it's done! Sky Drop!" Tyson called, Ryuu responding with a loud roar, essentially a war cry, before leaping into the air, using its wing to move faster as it charged at Viola, ready to enact the first stage of it's attack...pick the target up, carry it up to the roof of the Gym, then throw in back down again.
