Jace’s eyebrows disappeared under his hairline as the vulpix’s attacks both landed. It was very rare that such a thing happen… he wondered how long the poor luxray would last with that nasty burn… but he didn’t have long, seeing that the lion had a special ability, strange for an electric type to have—
‘Safeguard!’ Jace thought, panicking slightly. A Toxic attack would seriously cripple Viola, but he needn’t worry—as soon as he thought it, the shield went up around the fox, protecting her from any status changes. The toxic smoke whirled around her head harmlessly as she breathed the air, unaffected. But the Safeguard shield had taken her focus away from a follow-up attack.
‘Dodge, dodge!’
But it was too late. The Charge Beam hit the little fox directly in the chest, knocking her backwards. She let out a high-pitched yelp as she tumbled to the ground, hurt badly by the direct attack. She didn’t take attacks well… and this one was making Jace wonder if she’d make it…
For a few seconds, she didn’t move, her paw twitching…
-Okay… one more nick and I’m done for,- she finally panted, standing up and shaking violently. –One more, Jacey,- she said, looking at Tanga with determination.
‘All right then—give ‘im a Payback!’ [/i]
Viola did, her face contorted with pain and anger at the damage inflicted upon her. She charged straight at the lion, dark energy swirling about her in a strange aura, her eyes glowing with kitsune power.

Tyson grimaced, his frustration mounting as Viola neatly guarded herself against the Toxic attack...Tanga was really having a bad day, it seemed...the poor Luxray just couldn't seem to break his run of bad luck. But when his follow-up Charge Beam scored a direct hit, Tyson's frown reversed somewhat. The Viola had certainly felt that, and even though she was still up and fighting, the Tamer could see that the little fire-fox was hurting, badly...she would not last much longer, it seemed.
But then Jace called for Payback, and Tyson knew it was over...Tanga was exhausted, his burn paining him terribly, and there was no way he had the strength or stamina left to defend himself against that attack, or get out of it's way. "Tanga!" was all the Tamer could call desperately as the Vulpix's Dark attack scored a considerable hit on the exhausted feline, who dropped like a stone, and didn't get back up, completely drained.
Sighing, feeling terrible for his Pokemon's bad run, Tyson recalled him into his Ultra Ball, whispering as he did so. "Don't feel bad, Tanga...we all have bad days. We'll learn and train from this, don't you worry." But now, Tyson's expression turned neutral once more as he let his palm pass over all six Balls at his waist, finally stopping on the as-yet unused Cherish Ball as he faced Jace and Viola once more.
"Jace...Viola...I must congratulate you. No matter how this battle ends today, you, and all your other Pokemon, have achieved something no other Trainer to face this Gym has ever achieved before. In all my history as Leader of the Chaos Gym, I have never had to use my final Pokemon before."
As Tyson finished that last statement, he finally pulled the Cherish Ball off his belt, the bright red, and exceedingly rare Ball expanding in his palm as he spoke on. "My last Pokemon..." he said softly, almost reverently. "I have deliberately avoided using this Pokemon before now, attempting to keep it's identity secret. The fact that you, Jace Timbre, have finally forced me to reveal this secret at last is nothing short of exceptional...win or lose today, you should be extremely proud of your efforts today."
Tyson paused once more, actually looking at the Cherish Ball...it was a significant moment, having to send this one out into a competitive battle for the first time. The Tamer smirked slightly, wondering how not only Jace, but the rest of the public would react to this Pokemon once the secret was out in the open. "But now...it's time for you to have the honour of being the first challenger to meet my last companion...Auda, the time has come!"
With that last cry, Tyson threw the Cherish Ball straight up over his head, the Ball snapping open, the flash of light materaialising above the Trainer, revealing a sleek, streamlined form of red and white, with long, thin wings and large, innocent amber eyes...anyone with knowledge on the Legendary Pokemon would quickly recognise it, even as it gave out a shrill, happy cry...Tyson's last Pokemon was, of all things, a Latias!
The Latias, Auda, took a moment to take in her surroundings, before spotting Tyson down below, immediately zipping in his direction. 'Tyse!' she cried out telepathically, not bothering to properly direct her telepathic communication, which allowed both Jace and Viola to hear as well as the female Eon dived at her Trainer, before collecting him up in a happy, clearly affectionate hug. Auda, despite her almost deity-like status, was clearly very fond of Tyson, and thought the world of him.
Tyson, for his part, simply hugged the bubbly Eon back, showing just as much care and affection as the Eon, chuckling and smiling. "Hey, Auda...I take it you know what's happening?" he asked, not bothering to take advantage of her telepathy...not yet, anyway.
He got a simple nod from Auda in response, the Eon skimming Tyson's mind for memories of the battle as the Latias broke the hug, before turning back and smiling happily at Jace and Viola, crooning cheerfully even as she spoke up telepathically. 'Hi there! Guess you're the ones finally beating Tyse around, eh?' she asked rhetorically, a hint of a giggle in her telepathic 'voice', as she finally floated out over the battlefield, her happy look never fading, even as determination was added to the expression. She may never have been used in an offical battle before, but she was still well-trained, and naturally powerful in her own right.

Jace knew that both of the fighting Pokemon were tired, only barely able to stand—he silently cheered Viola on as she charged, hoping…the Payback attack landed, knocking the shiny luxray out of commission. Viola skidded to a halt, panting with exhaustion—but when she saw the lion lying there, she padded softly back to Jace while sending Tanga a message.
-I’ll tell Jace to let us all meet up after the battle! It was great battling you, Tanga,- she chirped happily, satisfied with the challenge of a difficult battle. She looked up at Jace and nuzzled his ankle affectionately, curling her slightly charred tails around his calf. The trainer leaned down to pat her head.
“Hey, why don’t you take a break? I don’t know what Pokemon Tyson’s sending out next, and I know you’re tired…”
-Aw, but I wanna see what the secret Pokemon is!- She whined, looking up at him with round amber eyes. The trainer sighed.
“All right… but just to see it, then you take a break,” he insisted. She licked his hand and let out a soft ‘wuff’ of thanks.
Jace looked up when Tyson spoke again, listening intently. He knew that no one had seen the secret Pokemon, and now he was dying to know what it was… he imagined a huge dragon, a towering figure that held all power and was as intimidating as the statues that stood behind both trainers. He nodded in answer to Tyson’s words.
“I want to thank you for such an amazing and educational battle,” Jace returned, smiling. Viola nodded in agreement. “…My strength comes from my Pokemon, as I’m sure is the case for you.” He held his breath as Tyson clutched the Cherish Ball before releasing the Pokemon inside—a ray of light zoomed forward, materializing… he could feel Viola’s excitement as well as his own humming in his veins as the light morphed into a shape, becoming larger, obviously a flying Pokemon, until—
-A latias!- Viola exclaimed ‘aloud’ so everyone could hear.
“She’s… beautiful,” Jace murmured, watching the Eon Pokemon swoop down to catch her trainer in a hug. Her 'voice' held a level of feminine charm about it, sweet and bubbly at the same time. Jace’s heart melted at the absolutely adorable display of affection from the female Eon.
-It’s lovely to meet you, Auda,- Viola said politely, tilting her head. -I can see you and Tyson are great friends, like me and Jacey.- The vulpine sat on her haunches with her tongue lolling out, still panting a bit. Jace scratched behind her ear once more and she growled affectionately.
Jace chuckled at Auda’s comment, directed at him—he couldn’t help but to smile and feel happy in the presence of the latias. She seemed to have a cheerful aura about her that lit up a room when she entered it.
“I guess so,” Jace laughed. “Tyson’s definitely a tough battler, though—and I especially didn’t expect for a latias such as yourself to be his last on the team! But here we are… are you ready?” He turned to his vulpix and caught her eye.
“It’s time,” he said gently, and she nodded before returning herself to her plain red and white Poke Ball.
“Okay, Auda… Tyson… time for you to meet the last of MY team! C’mon, Rast!” He pressed the button on the Poke Ball, allowing for the ghost type to materialize before them—a haunter. Rast blinked his abnormal red eyes before focusing on the large dragon before him, just as surprised at seeing a latias as Viola and Jace were.
“Ready, Jace!” The haunter said clearly. Rast floated eerily above the ground without leaving much of a shadow, his body made mostly of gas.
“Here we go—Shadow Ball!”
Rast used his floating claws to form the ball into shape—a gaslike sphere of ghostly energy. The haunter threw the ball forward like a shot, straight at the latias. It changed shapes in the air like a strange cocoon, a bubble, as it hurtled towards the Eon.

Auda smiled and gave a cheerful coo of greeting as Viola returned her hello, before giggling at the mention of friendship. "Yup, I can see that!" she said happily as the Vulpix got an affectionate scratch from her Trainer, before giggling again as Jace commented on her appearance being a little unexpected. "We hoped you'd be a little surprised," she added, before going silent as Viola was recalled into her Poke Ball, Jace obviously hoping to rest her up before she took on the Latias.
Auda's happy look did twitch in mild surprise as Jace released the Haunter, the red eyes surprising her, if not outright scaring her. Even Tyson reacted with more than a little surprise when the Haunter spoke up physically...a very rare talent for a Pokemon, even Auda being forced to communicate with Tyson through telepathy.
Tyson for his part, stepped into his battling mindset once more, his gaze narrowing on determined concentration...Auda's Psychic talents were strong against Rast's Poison tendencies, but the Haunter countered that weakness with Auda's weakness to Ghost-types...it was going to be another interesting match. "Alright, Auda, let's focus...it's time to show them what you can do!" he 'spoke' up telepathically, finally taking advantage of the Latias' talent...time to turn a couple of Jace's own tactics against him.
Auda, for her part, just send a telepathic pulse of confirmation across the link, silently communication she was ready, her happy smile finally fading as she focused, ready to show Jace just what an Eon Pokemon could do. So when Rast's Shadow Ball came at Auda, both of them were ready. "Show 'em what you can do, Auda! Dodge and retaliate with Dragon Pulse!" Tyson sent, remaining physically silent as the Eon moved before his mental orders were finished, darting aside in a show of her kind's impressive agility, the Shadow Ball missing cleanly as Auda wound up a pulse of blue draconian energy of her own, firing it right back at the Haunter.
Tyson was fully aware that Auda's Psychic attacks would have a greater effect on Rast than a move like Dragon Pulse, but he wanted to guage the strength of the Haunter before him...figure out how much punishment it could take before committing the Latias to her Psychic powers...no use draining them battling the Haunter, only to leave her exhausted when Viola returned.

Rast felt a little bad that his appearance had scared the happy latias, but he wasn't given too long a chance to think on it before the jet-shaped Eon dove out of the way of the Shadow Ball, charging forth with her unknown attack.
Using my own tactic against me, I see... but no matter, Jace thought, coming up with an idea.
"Hold, but use Sucker Punch!" Jace called, and Rast set forth, using the dark attack to charge power around one of his floating claws.
This attack simply cannot miss, Jace thought, smirking. But the ghost type would also take some damage... it was probably worth it, seeing as the dragon was very fast and good at dodging, obviously.
Rast took the attack, trying to brace himself but letting out a haunting screech of pain anyways. Jace winced, knowing that Rast wasn't meant to take damage like that. It hadn't been a Psychic attack, at least... but the ghost wouldn't be able to stand up to many more attacks so directly after this one.
"Hang in there, Rast! Sludge Bomb!"
Rast complied, spitting out a disgusting glob of noxious goo. It wasn't pretty, but... it sure did help to win battles. Wrinkling his nose at the smell, he watched the ghost, noting with some relief that he seemed to be holding up fairly well after Auda's attack.

"Auda, watch out!" Tyson cried out physically as Jace the order for Rast to use Sucker Punch, but by then it was too late, as Auda fired off her Dragon Pulse, Rast's Sucker Punch struck back, sending the Latias reeling back, screeching from the pain of the Dark attack.
"That hurt," she sent needlessly as she recovered, hovering near Tyson once more, glaring at the Haunter as it readied it's next attack, Sludge Bomb. "I'm still okay, Tyse," Auda said, instinctively moving to dodge the incoming glob of poisonous sludge without an order from Tyson...they had trained for this, after all. Auda yelped as the Haunter, obviously catching onto her tactics, sent the Sludge in the direction she had dodged, anticipating her movements rather well. The Latias quickly weaved around, but her wingtip still got hit by the sludge, hurting a little...but fortunately not enough to poison her.
Sighing with relief at Audas mental confirmation that the Poison attack had not done much, Tyson's gaze turned hard. "We have to end this, now, Auda...give them a Psychic!" Tyson ordered mentally, Auda focusing, her eyes glowing brightly as she sent immensely powerful waves of Psychic energy at the Haunter. It was one of Auda's strongest attacks, Psychic, and in training, knowing to even give Darwing one hell of a headache for quite some time afterwards.

Jace punched the air as the super-effective attack hit the jet-like Pokemon, confident in his haunter's skills. Legendaries were indeed intimidating, but once a trainer got over that, they became Pokemon like anything else... albeit very powerful ones. Jace felt a little bit sorry to hurt the cute Eon, but that feeling vanished very quickly when the latias's eyes suddenly lit up, glowing white with some kind of power--just like Viola's did when using Extrasensory.
Oh, sh--
"D-DESTINY BOND, RAST!" Jace roared, and Rast quickly began to prepare the ghostly energy, his red eyes alight with the terrifying promise of a shared fate...
But the order had come too late.
Before Rast could prepare the attack, the huge, strong Psychic wave crashed like brutal waves against the haunter's smoky body. Rast let loose an otherworldly howl of pain... and went down.
"NO!" Jace cried--the haunter was down in two hits?! The failed Destiny Bond only further proved to frustrate Jace further... Rast may have had great speed, but the Eons were nearly unmatched in their own... Gritting his teeth in dismay, he returned Rast to his Poke Ball.
"It's okay, Rast... she's a tough one, we'll practice later," he promised the ghost.
"All right, Viola... you're my last hope," Jace croaked, now feeling slightly desperate. The vulpine wasn't going to be able to last even through one hit... but even if they lost, they wouldn't lose without fighting all the way down.
The vulpix shot out of the ball, obviously still tired but a bit better than she'd been a moment before.
-Looks like it's my turn to face you, Auda,-[/b] the fox sent, 'speaking' out loud. With a determined stare, Viola braced herself, her back paws widening in stance and her front left foot forward in a battle-ready pose.
'Give it your all, girl, and remember to dodge!... now, Grudge to block her Psychic attack, then Fire Spin!'[/b]
Viola snarled, her friendly demeanor gone in place of an all-business approach to help her best friend win the fight. Her eyes glowed with ghostly energy while her belly rumbled with the fire within--she stood with her paws braced as she let loose the flame, the stream whipping around expertly as she attempted to lasso the latias in the midst of a fiery tornado.

Tyson smiled as Auda readied her Psychic attack, only for his smile to vanish completely as Jace ordered for his Haunter to use Destiny Bond...a move that would ensure Auda's attack brought her down as well...and cost him the entire battle.
"Auda, NO!" Tyson cried as Rast's eyes started to glow, trying to pull Auda down with him. Even as Auda's Psychic attack slammed into the Haunter, causing it to howl in pain and collapse, out of the fight. Grimacing, Tyson waited, not evend aring to breath, watching for Auda to take the Destiny Bond and collapse as well...but it never came. "A...Auda?" Tyson asked mentally, praying...
"I'm fine, Tyse," Auda chirped back, grinning at him. "He didn't get it done in time." As those words echoed through his head, Tyson's pale, horrified expression faded. Auda was okay...he had to resist the urge to run out onto the arena and hug her for dear life, aside from Topaz, he was not allowed to enter the arena at any time...and neither was Jace. But her first battle nearly ended in disaster..and she had pulled through. Tyson knew she could feel the waves of pride coming off him, and did not say anything as Jace recalled the Haunter, sending out Viola.
"This is it, Auda...it's down to just you two now," Tyson sent to his Latias, getting a determined smile in return, before the Eon turned back as Viola spoke up. "Yup...good luck!" Auda said to the Vulpix, before focusing as Jace concentrated, obviously using his telepathic connection as Tyson watched on.
"Careful, Auda...Viola's already tired, but she's still got plenty of fight left in...watch out!" Tyson's sudden cry came as the Vulpix's eyes glowed, showing another Grudge incoming. But Auda was not ready, and reeled back, not physically hurt, but could definitely feel a block taking effect on her Psychic talents. "Okay, she's good...yikes!" Auda's yell was cut off as the Fire Spin came towards her, the tornado of flames threatening to consume her. The Latias attempted to zip out of the way, but even in her exhausted state, the Vulpix was still a very fast battler and Auda squealed as she was sucked into the inferno, trapped in the vortex.
"Auda!" Tyson cried, hoping she was still alright...she might be resistant to Fire, but Viola had proven to be very powerful, so he could not be sure. "I...I'm okay, Tyson," Auda's mental voice replied, a little strained, but still alright. "But I don't know how to get out of this..." she admitted...she may have battled Ryuu before, but Fire Spin was not one of the Charizard's talents...this was new to the Eon. She just hoped she could last long enough to get away...she might be Legendary, but she wasn't invincible.
"You can't escape, Auda, so don't try...you can fight through it, though, so give Viola a taste of your specialty...Mist Ball!" Tyson's orders got an affirmative pulse from Auda, as within the tornado of flames, she focused, trying to find the Vulpix through the swirling flames...but it was not easy. Auda saw what she thought was the Vulpix, and gathering her powers once more, she gathered a ball of feathery down in her arms, before throwing it, hurling the attack through the flames, and at her target, hoping her aim was a lot truer than her vision currently was...

As the flames whipped around the latias, Jace silently revelled in the small victory... but this battle was far from over. The latias spun about, trying to locate the small vulpix through the yellow and orange flames, but the little fox was hard to see due to her similarly colored fur, her small stature, and her fleet-footed prance.
'No time to feel sorry! Keep moving, Vi, and try hitting her with--'[/b]
-Confuse Ray, got it!-[/b] The fox dodged the Mist Ball neatly, the latias's aim being a bit off in the first place. Viola was fighting off exhaustion to the best of her ability--Jace could feel her mental energy pulsing in and out, could almost feel the burns on her tail, the scorch on her chest, her breath coming in pants, her teeth gritting in determination--Jace's heart pounded, knowing that with any move, this battle could be over... If Viola was hit--
-HERE!-[/b] Viola 'yelled' over her link, and leapt up high, pushing her aching muscles in her flanks to launch her up to Auda's eye level. Viola's eyes were again glowing with the ghostly kitsune energy as she attempted to make eye contact with the Eon, determination and pain written on her muzzle...

Tyson was not surprised in the least when Auda's Mist Ball made a clean miss...the Fire Spin was going to mess with her, regardless of what he did. But then Viola jumped up, her eyes glowing as she tried to use her strange powers, Tyson knew Viola was not going to let this fight end easily, no matter how exhausted she got.
"Auda, shut your eyes!" Tyson called mentally. "Viola's up to something!" Auda spotted Viola just as she got the orders, and snapped her eyes shut...but not before she saw the glowing eyes of the Confuse Ray. Between the short exposure to the attack, and the Fire Spin making true eye contact nigh on impossible, it was barely a glancing shot, but it still gave Auda one nasty headache, as she wailed, the Fire Spin adding it's own level of pain...she was starting to tire.
"Auda, come on, hang in there!" Tyson called vocally, before focusing mentally. "Are you alright?" he sent, hoping Viola's Confuse Ray had failed...otherwise it could be over. "I...I think so..." Auda said, obviously starting to hurt now. "But between these flames and my headache, I can see, and my Psychic power's useless now..." there was a note of desperation in her voice now...she knew the Vulpix was putting up a massive fight, and that she would not last much longer.
Tyson thought furiously, thinking along the same lines...Auda was trapped, blind, and running out of time, he needed something...of course! "Auda!" he called mentally. "Remember what I trained you in...time to use it!"
Auda's expression noticably became reluctant to Tyson even through the flames. "But, I..." She sent shakily, clearly reluctant to use Tyson's plan. "Auda, it's our only choice...I don't want to, either, but Jace cares about Viola, she'll be well looked-after. Please, Auda..." he pleaded, knowing that Auda did not like using this attack, her mildly pacifist side fighting against it.
Finally getting a hesitant, but affirmative pulse of emotion from Auda, he steeled himself for what was to come. "Now Auda...just like we trained...Draco Meteor!" he ordered, watching as Auda prepared, a ball of bright, multicoloured energy forming in her arms.
"Sorry, Viola..." Auda sent apologetically, before letting out a fierce, shrieking cry as she hurled the ball of energy straight up at the roof of the arena, the attack exploding in mid-air, sending a massive shower of coloured meteors raining down on the whole arena, Auda reeling as the attack sapped a lot of her strength. Both she and Tyson hoped this would be the end of the battle...Draco Meteor was meant to be a last-resort move, and Auda didn't have much strength to spare if it failed.
