Warren Hall: Freshman Class

Reeve Putnam sighed, frowning up at the school. “This should be fun,” he muttered sarcastically. The blonde haired, gray-eyed freshman wasn’t pleased to say the least about having to go to a boarding school. In Massachusetts, no less! He loved the sunny beaches of California and the water. He wasn’t used to the rain that was drizzling all around him. “ This sucks,” he complained and jumped when he heard a low chuckle from behind him. Stepping out of the shadows was a eightteen-year-old with hair black as night and eyes the same shade as Reeve’s. “Aww, don’t be like that, Reeve. Warren Hall’s a pretty awesome school.” Stephen teased his younger cousin, grinning malevolently.
Reeve frowned. Whenever Stephen smiled like that, danger wasn’t far. “Why are you smiling like that?’ the blonde asked, and Stephen’s grin only widened.
“Oh, no reason. Anyway, have fun and don’t get possessed again, okay?” with that, Stephen vanished into the shadows that surrounded the two.

"Ooohhh, where do I go???" The purple-haired witch groaned, holding a well-worn piece of paper in her hand.This school was so extensively large... as a freshman, she didn't yet know the old halls that were full of magic and mystery.

Not looking where she was going, she slammed into someone--hard.

"Oof!" Zorayda's papers scattered everywhere, spellbooks, ink bottles splattered on the floor. "Oh, no..." she moaned softly, holding her head in pain and dismay. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean t..." she finally looked up at the person she'd run into to see a gray-eyed, blonde-haired boy staring back at her. Zorayda blinked a few times before smiling.

"Hi..." she breathed, blushing a bit as the boy continued to watch her pick up her things off of the old stone floor.

“Hi yourself,” Reeve smirked slightly, bending down to help her pick up her things off the floor. “I’m Reeve Putnam. I’m a freshman. And, you are?” The gray-eyed teenager raised his eyebrows. He sensed something about this girl…was she a witch also?

“Rowen Warren, prepare yourself,” a cold air whipped around the blonde haired, green eyed freshman, causing her to gasp. “Show yourself!” The witch demanded and a cold, mocking laughter was her only reply. Just as soon as it appeared, the presence vanished and Rowen shook her head, grabbing her bag from where it had fallen. She shook her head and walked over to where a familiar book with gray eyes and a unknown purple haired girl stood, talking. “Reeve!” Rowen smiled at the blonde haired boy and he turned to look at her.
“Hey, Row. How was your summer?"He wondered, putting an arm around her shoulders playfully. She shrugged and looked at the girl with a friendly smile. “Are you a freshman too? Hi, I’m Rowen Warren,” she greeted.

Zorayda finished stuffing her things back into her bag when the boy started talking to her. She couldn't stop herself from staring a bit--he had the most beautiful eyes she'd ever seen! Standing, she tucked a violet strand of hair behind her right ear, revealing icy-blue irises.

"I'm Zorayda Moolin, but people just call me Zora," she said, smiling. "I'm a freshman, too... I was lost on the way to my first class, though. I'm a witch-in-training," she explained, hugging her stack of books to her chest. She was startled by the presence of another girl, a pretty blonde, who suddenly came up and hugged the boy named Reeve. Zorayda blushed, feeling suddenly insecure. Was she his girlfriend or something?

"Oh, hi, Rowen... I'm Zorayda," she smiled.

Reeve nodded, grinning. “Hmm a witch huh? That’s what Rowen and I am. She’s part of the Warren Line, you know, the witch that started this school? She’s related to her,” he said, smiling proudly at Rowen and tightened his arm around her shoulders. Rowen blushed and shrugged. “I’m not that great…So,” she smiled at Zorayda, “what are your powers, Zora? I can freeze time, use telekinesis and Reeve can see ghosts,”
Reeve smiled slightly and started to say something when a cocky voice said, “Yeah, Reeve may can see ghosts but I’m still more powerful,” Stephen Evans stepped out of the shadows smirking.
Reeve rolled his eyes at his cousin and looked at Zorayda with a sad smile. “Zora, this is my older cousin Stephen. He graduated last year. He can talk to ghosts and summon demons,”

Zorayda's eyes flicked from Reeve's face to Rowen's as they spoke of their powers, and she grinned broadly, glad she had something in common with others. She smirked at them and held up a hand, cupping it so that her palm was upwards.

"I can do this!" she said enthusiastically, and with a second of concentration, a small ball of tightly compacted ice formed, steaming from the warmer air around it. She flicked her hand and it disappeared. "I can freeze the air around me at really fast temperatures," she explained. "But right now, I can only make little ice cubes... I'm also working on my ability to hover slightly above the ground--maybe one day I could actually fly!" She said in a hushed whisper, excited.

"Oh, um, hi," she stuttered when another student arrived--an older one, with dark hair and eyes like Reeve's. "Wow, demons? Really? That's so cool!" She said, and actually jumped a bit--causing her to drop her books again. She gasped and looked up at them apologetically.

"Sorry... I'm a bit clumsy," she said sheepishly. Then, with a soft popping noise, a scrawny black cat appeared at her feet.

"Honestly, Zor, I dunno how you'd survive without someone to watch you all the time," it meowed irritably. Zorayda shushed him, but scratched behind his ears all the same.

"Um, this is my familiar... his name's Dax," she explained as she knelt to pick up her books and papers once more.

"Wow...that's pretty cool," Rowen grinned at Zora and Reeve started to say something when Stephen did. " Interesting....ice formation... I've heard of it but never seen it. Yeah, I can summon demons, ghosts things like that. Reeve can too, if he would learn not to get possessed," Stephen smirked and Reeve blushed.
"Leave, Stephen. Shouldn't you be at Harvard?" Rowen scowled.
" Term starts tomorrow," Stephen explained as a cat appeared. Rowen and Reeve looked shocked.
"So, you have a familiar?" Rowen asked, confused. "I've never had one...my older cousin Rini always kept me out of trouble,"

Zorayda snickered at the cousins' bickering, feeling flattered by Stephen's compliments.

"Yeah, well, you know... gotta practice..." Their shock at seeing Dax surprised her and she looked confused. "Yeah... I thought... don't all witches have familiars? I mean, he can't really do much yet... he's basically just a talking cat," she explained, and Dax scratched at her ankle in annoyance. "Ow!" Zorayda hissed, scowling. But Dax had gone back to cleaning his paws.

Stephen shrugged. “I’ve never had a familiar, but I’m not really a cat person,”
Rowen and Reeve started snickering and the nineteen year old game the two freshman a hateful glare. “Ugh, I’m leaving. You two are so annoying,” he punched Reeve in the shoulder, ruffled Rowen’s hair and gave Zora a friendly smile. “Nice to meet you, Zora. Hopefully, we’ll meet again,” with that, Stephen vanished into the shadows as suddenly as he appeared.
Reeve snorted and grinned at Rowen. “So, Row, I heard you and Zack broke up,”
Rowen glared and shrugged out from under her beast friends arm. “Yeah, we did. So what?” She scoffed and Reeve smiled slightly.
“Well…. He was kinda a jerk and I didn’t like you together,” but by the time he finished, Rowen had walked off.
“She’s always been temperamental…” He explained, sighing. In all truth, Reeve had a crush on the girl ever since fifth grade when they met, but she never noticed….

Zorayda watched the older boy go with a smile.

"Oh, um, it was nice to meet you!" she called. She turned to the other two, catching the end of their conversation. Zorayda frowned, realizing that these two weren't actually dating each other, but it was all too obvious that Reeve had a little streak of jealousy for Rowen's ex-boyfriend.

Hmm... I guess I wouldn't have much of a chance, then, she thought to herself. Dax, who could hear Zorayda's thoughts, mewed softly at her. She leaned down and scratched him behind the ears.

"Well... I'm gonna be late for class... but I dunno where I'm going. Um... could you... help me find it, please?" Zora asked the blonde boy, adjusting her black blouse as she shifted her books in their stack.
